Black Ops IIII ?

Call of Duty sales have fallen off since Black Ops 2 and probably why Black Ops 4 released as a Battle Royale turd pile to hopefully revive the series.

To be honest you shouldn't perceive epic games store as epic, the company who made ut series. They are bought by tencent, giant chineese company which has tons of money mostly from mobile games and fortnite is just a tiny fraction of their revenue. Actually i wonder why they didn't name the store as tencent games store and why epic allowed them to use their name, name of used to be wonderful studio making amazing games, actual games for actual gamers.

Add to that a reported personal net worth for Tim Sweeney of $7.21 billion, and Epic Games value somewhere between $5 and $8 billion with an annual profit over $500 million, EGS isn’t going anywhere.

Try a little honesty and less hysteria. Tencent bought 40% of Epic in return for profits, leaving operational decisions to Tim.
If you were to be against any Chinese ownership of world corporations, I fear you might have most of the world’s products you can’t use. Get used to the new reality.

I cant believe the scam that is fortnite. what a load of garbage.... I wouldn't play that game for anything. its pay to win bullsh@t offends me. I just had someone persuade me to dll the piece of crap. massive dll and then I ended up having to format the hard drive I installed it on just to get it completely off my system.
epic games launcher didnt work for uninstalling the game(surprise). the person I played the game with was completely clueless about gaming. I just thought, youd have to be a complete fool to pay for any of this crap. it wasn't fun imo… just a waste of time.

the game stole an hour of my life i'll never get back....

when I tried to explain their were much better titles out there with better everything. the person I played the game with took it personal and kept on insisting it was fun. like he was brain washed or something. whats fun about pay to win...….

I just completed sekiro and then resident evil 2 remake... amazing titles...

I recommended another free title apex legends and was told it was too realistic.... wtf.... I dont think i'll be playing games with that guy again....

whats shocking is he's a developer, and he had absolutely no idea about what a good game should contain. I hated the experience from start to finish.

That ain't the games though, that's the people. MP with the right people can provide the best gaming experiences you can have. And plenty of SP games are "soulless pieces of crap".

Stop spouting BS please, because its evident you know nothing and half your comment is fantasy

Epic is still doing the exact same thing, except now backed by profitable product and a powerful investor, its just a load of Reddit noise trying to make you think otherwise. Step out of your filter bubble, I could find this in 5 seconds on DuckDuckGo... ;)

So... Epic, keep that money rollin', and kill that Steam addiction with a vengeance tyvm

I was wondering where Epic make the money with Fortnite and it seems that the average player who has spent money on the game has spent $84.67. That's a lot of money and the kind of amount I would have to think twice or thrice about before spending on a game. A new game maybe, but not in-game content.
And, according to Investopedia, players can't buy anything that will affect their performance in the game, so it's questionable whether it's pay to win.
Either way, these are staggering amounts of money, so clearly I'm in the wrong job.

Its a segment of gaming in desperate need of strict regulation and age barriers. And a way to enforce those, mostly. Kids shouldn't be given cash shops where you can buy in one click. I doubt this will last, the lootbox discussion is only the beginning.

Nice rant, but how is Fortnite P2W? You buy skins, gliders, pick axes, back bling, etc - cosmetic things only....... you do not buy weapons or upgrades to weapons which give an advantage and what defines a P2W game. Sure, there is a battle pass, but you just get more COSMETIC items.

Unless I am missing something, Fortnite isn't a P2W game.

This is correct. While I don't play it, I've had the opportunity to frequently watch it being played(in person) and not one item that can be purchased will give an edge in the actual combat aspect of the game.

Always fun to think that right there in the beginning it was Bethesda of all the studios.

I just read about this. Epic paid 9.5 million Euros to Digital Bros and 505 Games to make Control an Epic exclusive with 55% of that 9.5 million Euros going to 505 Games.
505 Games is the Publisher of Control and Digital Bros is the Parent Company of 505 Games.

I wonder how much Epic paid 2K Games for the six month Borderlands 3 exclusive deal on EGS?

So maybe it's working for them. Still sucks, but ok.

Remember, that money is withheld when it goes on sale. The publisher sees nothing until Epic Games gets reimbursed through sales. Epic Games is taking an enormous amount of risk for only gaining temporary exclusivity. If the game flops, Epic Games loses whatever they didn't make back. If the game sells great, Epic Games and publisher wins.

The main attractive feature of Epic Games is two fold:
1) Access to the millions of Fortnite players.
2) The better revenue sharing model for publishers.
Exclusivity is icing on an already tasty cake.

No, in this case Epic paid the money up front before Control was released. Epic paid the money on June 30. The game wasn't released until August 27.

My statement is accurate.
1) Digital Bros/505 Games signed the exclusivity contract.
2) Epic Games paid them 9.5 million euros
3) game goes on sale
4) Epic Games doesn't pay anything to Digital Bros/505 Games until Epic Games has collected 9.5 million Euros through the sales of Control
5) once Epic Games gets their money back, Epic Games starts paying the share that Digital Bros/505 Games is owed for additional sales of Control

Edit: this is what the cashflow looks like to Digital Bros/505 Games (example, dollar amounts after initial and dates made up):
