I don't give a toss about the aesthetics appeal here - I just can't wait for intel to launch their war battalion in an already cost saturated market. We need some healthy competition at the higher end, should AMD and INTEL manage to compete in the coming years. I've had enough of Nvidias extortionate pricing structure with not much performance justifying the spend hence these boys need to be kicked down a peg!

Intel, nobody gives a flying f**k what your graphics cards look like, we care about how they perform. And given that you've been suspiciously tight-lipped on actual performance numbers, plus you're using a power config that is good for up to 375W, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that this product will be even worse than AMD's rehash of a rehash of GCN.

On the plus side, at least AMD GPUs will no longer be bottom of the charts in performance and power consumption.

You forget the Intel magic sauce. It might make GCN stagnate for the next decade, stuck at 4 CUs with HT :ohwell:

Imagine though if their first GPU would kill both competitors in one fell swoop. That'd mean we'd have been lied to since 1999.

I'd like to make two points here. The first is relevant to the renders, the second is about this forum. :)

  1. It looks like the Intel community managers have crowd-sourced the design from the fanbase, and they came up with this tricked-out, gaudy monstrousity. I'm sure someone took inspiration from Tron.
  2. I've never seen a comment section so ... sensible and united on what should be. Seriously, have I entered the Twilight Zone?

2. Misery loves company ey

Just for the heck of it... Show of hands: who *actually* believes Intel is close (i.e. next 18 months, within 2020 timeframe as they originally mentioned) to producing a viable graphics card which will be able to bring competition to the GPU market?

I think it's possible, perhaps even likely. Time will tell though.

Really hoping this fan-fantasy made render won't make it as a reference design guidance. This looks hideous from engineering, design and just about any other aspect of GPU-making.

This whole fan-made ego-trip Intel is having with its Xe GPU's is very silly, and they need to ground themselves up and get reminded that they are entering a market they previously tried and have failed to do, several times in recent years.

Take it easy, and show us what the tech can do next year instead of having this whole odyssey ordeal. This campaign looks like a kickstarter promotion to a product that does not exist more than anything else at the moment.

Please go to bed with your nonsense.

Arguing against things that are purely subjective, and therefore not really worth the time to discuss.

well if it was objective there wouldn't be any arguing, then it would have been just a fact.
their reaction to this post is "Intel we want performance numbers, stop this un-earned hype machine" which they also provided some argumentation for.

So really I dont see how its nonsense.

These renders are just to keep the hype going. Aren't the cards suppose to come out in like 2021 or something? They have to do things like this to keep the cards in people's minds until they are released.

intel is strong in many things, but graphics never, they don't have the long term experience like AMD/NV, so they could have many problems and bugs, even ATI who did have so mutch experience and made so many cards had so many problems in games. what I think ? it looks like money: compare for example a poor country to richer one, you will always see the richer country money looks very simpel but the poor country money looks very nice, I think this is the same thing. yhe sure intel is strong they have many money and engineers and custom technology but being new in graphics will be hard anyway.

Looks like they're pre-oxidising the PCIe connector? Yeah, I hope that isn't blue when these arrive in physical form.

On a more serious note, these look like rather lazy, overly "gamery" designs. This is the kind of stuff I expect from AIB partners, not as reference designs.

More renders eh? Haven't they got any prototypes they can show instead of some CG generated ones?

Weird.

(I hope they do finally come out with something, the GPU market has been boring for quite a while)

Tired of hearing about it - ready to actually see some pricing, performance numbers, and release dates. I'd be water-blocking mine anyway, so the reference design appearance really means nothing to me.

Some of us are ready for an upgrade but are not pleased with NVidia's pricing on Turing so I surely wish Intel would get something released. If anything, some semblance of competition at the top would push Turing prices down to reasonable levels.

lol i'm no longer seeking "reasonable levels", i want performance uplift and a value crisis from AMD/INTEL to punish NVIDIA (for a while in the least). Although sadly, that day is a day too distant in the distant future - maybe when i'm old and lying in my bed breathing my last breaths, someone will drop me a memo to put a smile on the dying soul.

Who gives a toos what it looks like as long as it is competitively priced with good performance. My case is under my desk and I never look inside except for it's quarterly dusting.

+1. I'm excited for Intel to make something beyond iGPUs and compete in the dedicated graphics segment to increase competition but that thing is so, so ugly. I expect Intel products to at least look professional. I hate all this gaudy stuff!

It's the "e" from "Xe". Still looks like the IE logo though, you're right about that.
