Hi everyone :D :D

I'm not sure if many or any one has seen my original post, but I'd like to open it up to everyone possible on TPU :) I hope that this is alright with our team Captain @Norton but he's been rather quiet on the forums for awhile, so I hope he doesn't mind me doing this give away in memory to Kriej He's been doing this since 2018 and a lot of people from TPU have given any spare hardware they have laying about for this amazing giveaway and awesome cause. So I'd like to be able to do the same :) See below for a bit more detail :)

Check here for the original post

Now I might have a few more servers to giveaway, I've just grabbed some extra RAM for them and these all come with dual CPUs, 24Gb RAM and all you need to get them up and running but a SSD/HD. I'm in the process of securely wiping all of the drives I have as with the data on there, I'm not taking any chances and whilst I'm doing this, I'm taking out any of the poor or bad drives that have been tested with some SMART errors. Sadly the SAS drives I have here will be a little more difficult but, there's always a way :D

So... If you'd like one of the above servers, please put your name below... It'll literally be that simple :) I've had these for free and I plan to give them away FOR FREE!! That said, delivery/postage will be a lot I think due to the weight of these things (the 2U models I have R710's) even more so than these 1U ones.... So as I'm UK based, I'd be more than willing to help with meeting up or doing whatever I can to help deliver these to where they need to go to :)
The reason for the give away is to try and get a few more people crunching away for our team. This doesn't mean I'm expecting ANYONE to crunch 24/7 and drain the electric grid, I'm just asking for people to do whatever they can do :) The servers aren't the newest in the business but whatever you can do with these, I know everyone in both teams would be more than grateful. Crunching isn't cheap and this giveaway is meant to help people to get started with just that.

So, there's the sales pitch... Anyone who is interested or would like to join our team, get in touch... :D :D

Shipping across "the pond" would be very expensive. You're thinking about upgrading to to Ryzen 3000 when they come out. Maybe consider using your current system for WCG? Used prices for 1000 series Ryzen's is going to be very low when the 7 nm's come out, heck I payed $150 for my 1700X brand new a few months back. You will need to run Linux on it to get the most out of it for WCG.

Nahhhh I rather use separate systems as my main rig is used for work which can hog almost all the resources so it wouldn’t be feasible to use wcg on it

I'll have to get a bit of a price check done on the sheer weight of one of these things lol I'm not it would be very cheap that's for sure!! I think these things are possibly 20kgs a piece or possibly more??....

Would it be just the one server? These R610's just currently have a single CPU in and a single heatsink sadly. You can grab some L5640's, they'll help with the power consumption of these things and being 6 core 12 thread, hopefully help along with the WCG points :) When I ran two of these CPUs in one of my R710's, flat out it was pulling about 270w under load total, but it had 5 SAS 7.2k 1Tb spinners in there and all the other gubbins... I'd hope the R610's might be slightly lower in power consumption....

I would only need one possibly 2

I'd be happy to ship any amount of them, just be warey it'll possibly cost a small fortune but if I must say so, the specs of them aside from CPU, pretty decent, even more so for free ;)

I'm just trying to get a quote for sending over a server, would you mind PM'ing me your full address please? It seems Parcel Monkey requires an inside leg measurement as well to just get a proper quote... :(
With just sending something from the UK to the USA weighing 25kgs, I've had this so far...

I'll have a look around to see what else I can find :)

Feel free to drop me your address and I'll grab a quote for you :)

ixnay. i thought you were in the states, thank you though! :)

Sadly not sir, but it wouldn't be a problem to send one over the phone if needed :)

I'm going to give this a bump and say, if the servers aren't gone by the end of the month, I'll advertise them elsewhere as I need to get rid of them.

If people can cover shipping of the item and if they wish to contribute something to the server itself, then I would be grateful. Obviously depending on the server sent to you, we can work out a price if you so wish :) I hope people will be interested in them :D

what do ya mean contribute to the servers=hardware?
something specific?
maybe half of the shipping costs?

I'd like to cover the costs of shipping the servers fully, but as for a contribution towards the hardware in the servers (as some I have upgraded out of my own pocket) this is more of a contribution towards the fact of giving some decent server hardware for pretty much next to nothing really (depending on where you are in the world etc.)

Obviously I'm open to anything extra from anyone wishing to have one but like I say, it will largely differ between each server since some of them are quite basic :) None will ship with drives because it'll save on weight as they can be rather heavy :)

If anyone has any questions, please just ask away :)

For a bit of an update, I have someone interested in the 3 R610s and the HP Gen 7 (I think) 380 server.. If this is confirmed, it will just be the few remaining R710's that will be available :)

Great giveaway!!!

Right everyone, just a bit of a dump and a thanks to everyone who got in touch about the servers :)

I believe they have ALL been claimed so, I'm going to make sure that whoever has contact me will get a reply regarding my testing, pictures and video of them working and then I'll be getting them boxed and sent off :D

If anyone hasn't got back in time to me, due to me wanting the servers rid by the end of this month, if I do get any more home with me, I'll put you on the next give away :)

That said, if anyone changes their mind and doesn't want me to send them out, I'll post back here and in the other thread at the top of this page :)

Thanks again :D :D

I just thought I'd give the thread a bit of a quick update.....

I have arranged collection for the servers to be picked up for the 5th March (Thursday) and they should be with @blobster21 within a week but the service does state 3 to 5 days... So here's hoping that they arrive there safe and sound :D :D

@blobster21 please please please, let me know when they arrive and if there's any problems whatsoever, I will do my best to help you out :)

I'll make sure to keep you updated when the server arrives !

First thing first :

This will be the heaviest "objects" i have ever received in my entire life, hand down !

I just hope I put the address in correctly and that you get them ok!! :) Really glad you have the email confirmation!! I trust everything was correct??

I think I've over estimated the weights by a fair amount but hopefully that'll cover what's in there without any hassles :)

great to see you keeping the giveaways alive . :toast:
