I imagine that regional limitations on promotional items, like game giveaways and bundles, might be at the government policy level. One country may not find that such a giveaway is taxable, while another might expect you to claim the face value of the games as income. Rather than complicate the sale, companies probably just avoid promotional items in such areas altogether. Tax code is complicated. For example, my employer can buy me a $200 pair of work boots without any issue, but if they gave me a $200 gift card to the store where they sell those boots, they'd have to consider that gift card as taxable income.

Even less so when it's about getting some "digital download" type of "bonus".

This is not a matter of an employer employee relationship, this is quite different and "bonus" items are not taxable afaik, as you paid for something in the first place and you just got something more for your money.

5700XT in TPU benchmarks is closer to 1080Ti, than 1080, for $399

New and came with free Ghost Recon Wildlands, even It was around the release of the 9/11Gbps VRAM versions of Pascal. There was a brief period of mediocre mining and decent GPU supply, and prices went down, I could also buy tax free at the time.

And yeah, isn't it cool.. its not so cool in 2019 and after we've already had Vega on the shelves for that price for quite some time. Nothing is new here, just a very, very late Vega 64 update. I said in another topic... this is as interesting as watching paint dry, and it really is. If you wanted this performance, you should be having it already.

Looking at your specs, I can totally understand its a great offer in your case. If you were indeed waiting it out, its a good deal.

Yeah. Still not all that awesome is it. 2080 is utter shit anyway so that comparison is pointless. I'm sorry, I'm not in cheer mode for this release, its too little too late just like Vega (and Turing / Super).

This whole gen is safe to skip if you have a half decent Pascal 1070ti or better. If you don't, sure, nice step forward. That is all really. Interesting it is surely not in terms of 'progress'. There is no progress. Just some juggling with price points. The gap with Vega at a very similar price point is just too small, it was never really worth the long wait, after all... let's just be honest. In addition, while it has somewhat more perf, not even the 5700XT can really touch the 1080ti, its hit or miss really. And there are some serious misses too - along with a few big hits. And let's not speak of that 92C temp, because that is 290x reference all over again. And wtf is up with that clockspeed graph at load temps? Its a mess.

If you remove the price argument, what's left is AMD still stalling at just under 1080ti performance. Despite a Radeon VII and this Navi 10 already going on overdrive and out of optimal efficiency curve. Despite a node shrink to 7nm and 'arch improvements'.

And on top of all this, it really isn't a good time to be buying your new long-term GPU anyway with Nvidia 7nm in the works.

AMD made a major leap forward, on perf/transistor as well as perf/watt alike, catching up with Turing, while, yeah, having 7nm vs 12nm node advantage, but so was Vega VII which not only failed on those accounts, but also utilized much more expensive RAM

Before 5700/XT AMD was far faaaaar behind. Now it's on par, yes, it's (early!) 7nm vs mature 12nm, but so what, that's the way both companies set priorities for years, AMD preferring to embrace nodes early, nvidia cheaper, more mature transition.

There is no doubt AMD will roll out bigger Navi chips.
5700XT is 40CU and 250mm2, what would be 60CU, 350mm2-ish? That thing could easily take on 2080, sitting somewhere between 2080 (a 700+ euro card, yay, what about 5800XT at $549?) and 2080Ti (won't even check price on this thing)

There is certainly some major reworking of Navi compared to Polaris and Vega. The 40 CU 5700XT has just over 10B transistors which is almost double that of the 36CU RX 590, yet 3B less than Vega 64. It’s certainly several steps in the right direction, but I hope it’s not just 7nm saving the day here. A process advantage can be easily swept away by nvidia since they haven’t made that move yet.
