Because it can cause serious problems. Users will blame AMD. Why is this so hard to understand?

On the other hand enabling locked prolly broken CPU cores was better?

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
i don't really understand ...

in the same price category of mobo a X570 is priced similarly to a X470 equivalent ... so a X570 is still more desirable than a X470, ok there is some extra high priced X570 ... but these can be skipped : 1. they are for people with mor emoney than reason (and there is quite a lot of them, nonetheless) 2. they offer not much more than a standard :ohwell:

for instance i find a X470 for 169-219chf ... X570 price range atm : 179-229chf ... where is the freaking price issue??? right? "Oh dog, they are 10chf more than the X470 line, ohhhh the horror prices!"

unless you really want to cheap out and use a B450 (which would not be a fair comparison price wise since it's clearly not the same league unlike the one above) but that should be for R5 APU or under and not R5 3600 and above.

also @ "AMD is pulling a Intel" ::roll::roll::roll::roll:yep ... the PCIe gen 4.0 that almost everyone said "bah it's too early and not needed we can scrap some $$$ by staying on B450/X470" (10chf! WOOHOO) is becoming an argument to bash AMD? oh well luckily Ryzen 2 do work on AM4 and 4XX chipset ... but that's trivial ... PCIe gen 4.0 is more important than 2 chipset wide compatibility and socket persistance

It has nothing to due with wiring. It has all to do with signal integrity. I don't see why AMD won't just let the motherboard vendors work it out on their own? Just keep it enabled as an option but only officially support it on X570 and thats that. It costs AMD nothing.
So you can blame AMD even more.

Explain the firmware then. It's our and generally works.

It doesn't need new wiring. It's best to cert the wiring for the new standard though, or you may have... intermittent issues. With an SSD could be really worrisome.
They we need new cable for new DP/HDMI/Ethernet???

How would it cause any issues? You would have to go in the BIOS and enable it manually. So the every day, Joe Smith Cotton won't even know its there and won't affect him one bit. Those that know its there, will most likely know what it is or have done research on it.

If pressed, AMD would probably stick to their existing statement that X570 is the only board they recommend to achieve PCIe 4.0. I'd be more curious to see how Biostar can claim their old boards qualify. Did they already know the PCIe 4.0 spec and build accordingly? Isn't the first slot directly connected to the CPU anyway? If so, why would the chipset matter in that case?

It is all about physics. The PCB matters. It must have more layers and better tracing and composite compound to have signal integrity. You cannot cheap out so much anymore with having PCIe4 as it is high frequency RF part. The material properties change a lot at those radios.

They are right to prohibit it. But in real life it still works, as it could be that the compound in the textolite actually has better physical properties and is laid out accidentally or in purpose to comply with higher standards. High OC boards with more layers, yeah it should be like that. But all budget ones? Hmm dunno. Also the protocol incorporates algos for loss and correction and forgives some errors. It depends on the environment really.

It is a guessing game in the end... they have to say it is bad. Because it is. But the practical side shows that it's somehow enough... we can manage. It is like having an affair with your ex, you know it is bad... but you either want or could do it.

Asus may want to get their head outta the sand for Ryzen 3000 support on their X370 boards otherwise AsRock will roll right over them.

Biostar I pray gets to being a top board maker like AsRock or Epox with parts and bios code

I meant back in the day, they are SuPox now and non US market.

To be fair. Non ROW market except China. Checking the site... they are rebranding other knock off china boards.

Basically not the first time. What's the fuss?

Yeah what is the fuss, it happens all the time with AMD. In fact i bet AMD knew it was "somewhat" possible and just did not meet a standard and they are just covering their ass and who can blame them right.

But AMD knowing much more than we do and manufactures making still to all kinds of standards it would not been a good idea for AMD to includes the series.
