Typing experience can be worse for those used to mechanical keyboards, especially given the competitive market

I believe, that almost all mechanical keyboards have worse typing experience compared with membrane ones. At beginning of existence, mechanical keyboards never be advertised as "better overall performance keyboards" or "better typing performance keyboards". They were niche products for those who want maximum gaming comfort by sacrificing typing performance. However many people have priority for gaming performance, that is why mechanical keyboard from niche product become must have accessory.

Mechanical keyboards were introduced decades before gaming peripherals were a thing, including in other applications and devices such as point-of-sales machines. They were always intended to be for typing, and it is only recently that the PC industry has marketed them for gaming first.

This is not to say that mechanical keyboards are inherently better for typing globally, but there are options available that can help make it more comfortable and amenable for many that membrane switches are unable to offer.
