actually it's $374 then you add 15% GST on top of that and whatever the retailer here thinks they can add on top of that which is usually around another 20~30% so it'll actually be quite a bit more than $400NZD by the time I go to buy it (not that I'm going to mind you)

According to DuckDuckGo 250 USD is currently ~NZD 395.86. Still, those added margins sound pretty bad, yeah. Even for a small country in a remote location that's pretty hefty. Here in Norway we have 25% VAT, but at least our prices are generally good (at least for major components) when factoring that in.
