Hello! I am experiencing random blue light sources in some games using an RX 580. Tried reinstalling the drivers / updating directx even reinstalling windows 10 but none of it helped. In some cases turning ON vsync reduces the flashing or even makes them go away. Please help.

Thanks for the super fast reply! Can't be a game issue since it is happening in different titles. To name a few from the games i had this issue with: The Outer Worlds, Chernobylite, Remnant from the Ashes.

Gpu overheating, have you cleaned the pc and gpu out lately, if so id try a higher fan curve profile and possibly downclock first the Gpu then the memory, see what gets rid of it.
Also 60fps as a framepacing setting can do similar to vsync , more for the power levels used by the gpu then truly syncing frames.
Might be time to retim but i would order a random pack of gel interface strips from a(insert store) for the vrm and memory as these drying out can cause it too.

The card is pretty new using it for 2 months and just cleaned it a week ago. Checked with the ATI overlay on a spot where the flashing is worst but the temperature is steady 76 C (no idea if thats considered hot or not) with the gpu being 1366 MHz and the memory 2000 MHz. Will try to downclock them as you suggested maybe it will help.

Well if it's at stock settings doing that ,those steps can help identify which part is at fault but I would consider Rma ing the card , given it's new.

Probably worth a driver sweep(clean amd gpu driver off then reinstall) though too before that, even if you have , one last time might work.

Yeah that's quite toasty my own RX580 with the same clocks is never anywhere near that sort of temp whilst gaming either your case sucks for airflow or the AIB of your GPU was overly ambitious with the Clocks/Voltage on it

first thing I'd do after cleaning out the old driver and reinstalling the latest 19.10.2 would be to install MSI Afterburner and set a decent fan curve and maybe try down clocking the GPU to 1340MHz and see what temps are like then and if you're still getting aberrant behaviour from the card ingame

Installed Afterburner (and wow its much easier to use than wattman) and lowered gpu clock to 1200 and memory to 1800 but it did not had any impact at all. Since the overlay was displaying the fps too i noticed it was around 100-105 so i tried capping it at 60 which was suggested above (while also resetting gpu and memory to factory values) and it lowered the temperature to ~65 and the blue lights disappeared. In "heavy" situations the temp was still rising to 74-75 but the average was around 65ish. Since i never had these "fast" cards and barely scratched the 30 fps mark is this the normal behaviour and i need to do this every time i use a game or is this suggesting there is some fault on the card itself?

Try another monitor and cable or find a shop to test the card in another system

What is your ambient/room temp? 88C is quite hot.
If it's happening with all games, I'd say heat/faulty card, RMA.

Usually such flashing happens when the memory clocks are too high. You have underclocked the card and didn't achieve anything with it, so I guess that can't be it.
It looks like a lens flare effect in Bioshock is broken, but why, I don't know.

Does this happen in any other game?

I was also thinking cable or connector but it looks like a special effect like blooming/lens flare or something, amazing, first time I ever saw that, most cards will make dots/artifacts or flash or the colors will start changing or it will simply freeze. the card is a little hot but it should not do that, I've seen plenty new cards running past mid 80' C.

yes, return the card.

Bizarre. Almost looks fake(added)...at least that was what my gut was telling me. Definitely looks like it's software generated? Those are hexagons? I've seen plenty of strange artifacting in my day...but nothing like this...and I've been around a long time.

If your RX 580 is hitting 88 degrees celsius. There is a problem somewhere. Case cooling? Hard to tell without being able to see your "System Specs". With that said...my Sapphire RX 570 ITX and my Sapphire RX 580 Pulse usually just get into the lower 60's. Both are dead silent, even during gameplay.

I'll be watching this thread closely....very curious.

To answer your questions the brand is XFX and my room temperature is 19-20C the card's idle temperature is ~ 45 C. As i mentioned it happens in different games too. What i posted earlier is from Outer Worlds it happened in Chernobylite and Remnant from the Ashes. Downloaded Chernobylite in the afternoon again to show how it is happening in that game. The only difference is that it happens in that game just after 2-3 minutes of play.

And as for my posts being fake... i don't even want to comment that one.

Tired different cable and monitor with the same results. Sadly i am not able to try it in a different computer so that is not an option. Made a GIF to show how it actually looks with the factory settings it runs at 88 C:
