1: The stupid placement of the sata ports
2: The socalled 8 channel audio I'd like to see you get 8 channel out of 3 connectors
3: The software is rubbish and may not instal (despite saying it has done without error)
4: The VRM is rubbish
6: RGB control is nerfed
7: PBO is a disaster

1. I completely agree. But I am so used to that placement from old motherboards I just overlooked it. But I agree with you especially since I just worked on a Asus P8Z77-V LK motherboard which is also a discount board (old too) and the placement of its Sata ports were superior to the x470 seen in the TUF system build here.
2. Yes, this too. I have seen how so many boards now have only 3 connections but seem to tout 7.1 surround sound and what not. I also thought it was odd and that such advertisement would have caused them potential lawsuits.
3. I have zero experience on its software other than EZFlash for bios flash.
4. Most budget boards VRM are rather extremely basic. 4 or 4+2 seem to be common among budget to even more pricier boards. Such is sufficient for most Ryzen 3000 series CPU's anyway unless you try a 3900x which in this case, you are better off buying a better motherboard for sure. But for a 3700x, its sufficient.

6. no experience with RGB tbh. I personally am no fan of RGB anyway. But I imagine it can be a deal breaker for those who are all about asthetics.
7. PBO issues may have something to do with the lousy VRM?
Thanks for the reply. At least now I got something to research on because when I did do some research, I couldn't find much. Most reviews of these boards are rather meh. Nothing bad but nothing exciting either.

Pretty much the same cons as with the cheaper B450-Plus Gaming I have.
1. Placement of the SATA ports are straight outta last decade (+ 2 ports are disabled when using a M.2 drive, I have to use a PCIe SATA controller card for more SATAs)
2. Not complaining since I have a Sound Blaster Z, haven't even tried the integrated audio
3. Haven't even tried to install any Asus' software
4. Agree, and with a watercooled CPU without any proper airflow that gets hot too
5. Yeah, just a 12V header and many RGB products are 5V
6. Haven't tried it out, just manually put 1.3125V & 4025MHz
It does its job, but there's so much better boards out there.

I agree on the TUF brand loosing it's luster. It used to be premium, now it's like others mentioned aesthetic but shallow since they cut corners. But I really like the idea behind the TUF packaging and multiple companies working together on a cohesive look/branding. If I was more into this look, I would go for it. I don't mind paying a bit more or having slightly less performance if I like the way my build is, since I enjoy hardware and the entire process.

Ugh.
Asus' high-end parts are usually good but their budget stuff, now including TUF for most of the range is usually overpriced low-end stuff, and Asus are the worst brand to buy low-end parts from.
Stick to Asrock/MSI/Gigabyte for entry-level and mainstream components - you'll get better quality/spec per dollar, for sure.
