AMD is expected to announce new products such as its next-generation APU, a new e-sports graphics card, and teasers for its upcoming products. Exactly. Nervous, not prepared. Very unpleasant voice as well.
She stutters while saying stuttering can ruin gaming.

I don't expect engineers to be good at presenting. This is why normal companies employ public relations professionals. I understand this is another thing AMD can't afford.

Earlier, as Su presented 4800U: very weak, delayed applause. Almost as if there was a huge "applause" sign above the stage.

This is the first keynote by AMD I've ever seen. Probably the last one.

$279 for the 5600 XT? Fail pricing again, and they are aiming at the 1660 Ti when it should be the RTX 2060 non-Super.

$230 to $250 and it would've been a great bang-for-buck card.

Update:

So the first gaming laptop with the 4800H is ASUS's Zephyrus chassis, which IMHO has not been well-managed, at least from what I've tried with the GX502. I hope they have dual-slot SODIMM slots and a better screen this time around.

The 1660Ti is faster than the 1660 Super. The 5600XT will be faster than the 1660Ti that costs $279. I don't understand your logic.

I never mentioned the 1660 Super. They should be aiming at the 2060 non-Super with that price. Otherwise, just get a 5700 non-XT for potentially $280.



Update +1:

Dell G5 with the 4800H and 5600M or 5700M? I'm interested! If I don't have any CUDA workload, this would be great as a replacement for my 2018 G5.

noboby should buy a 5500XT 8G for 210 or a 5600XT for 279 because some 1660 Super can be had for 235 (this are prices in Euro in germany)

He's talking about Dell. They are selling a Reference VisionTek RX 5700 for $279 plus tax. They are literally the only ones though

Not a single word about RTRT means the rumors likely were correct: RTRT solution in upcoming consoles is not provided by AMD.

Surprisingly poor 4800U. In the "creators" segment they've compared it to a 4-core casual gaming chip, not the 6-core "productivity" one.

It was on sale for $279.99 this weekend. It's [Dell's] normal price as of this morning.

You can get a 5700 non-XT for $329.00 as an alternative.

Yeah it's pretty terrible, why pay 4000$ for a 3990X when you can pay 3000$ for a W-3175X that's twice as slow most of the time. Intel provides such a good bang for buck.

Using Intel's overpriced price points to justify for AMD's overpriced price points lol. Fact is, Threadripper 3000 series owner threads are mostly empty in many PC forums like Overclock.net. Meanwhile, forum threads for 1000 and 2000 series are packed. So yes, Theadripper 3000 series is too expensive for Theadripper fans.

It's not too expensive for TR fans. It's just too expensive for consumers. 3950X is as well.
People who used to pay $500 for add 60% money even if it gives them 100% more oomph.
Ryzen offer good value, but the price is just beyond what people spend on PCs.

The target client for these $2000+ CPUs are enterprises, not consumers. And enterprises don't ask question on overclock.net etc.
Also, I don't get why this was launched at CES. Targeting consumer-wannabe-pros or whom?

The 3950X is actually at a good price point for what it offers. AMD should've continued planning from there.

3950X - $750, enthusiast desktop, 16-cores, dual-channel memory, 24 PCI-E lanes
3960X - $1100 (to $1200 perhaps?), HEDT, 24-cores, quad-channel memory, 88 PCI-E lanes
3970X - $1800, HEDT, 32-cores, quad-channel memory, 88 PCI-E lanes (more or less matching 2990WX last year)
3980X - $2600, HEDT, 48-cores, quad-channel memory, 88 PCI-E lanes
3990WX - $3200 (to $3400?), HEDT, 64-cores, quad-channel memory, 88 PCI-E lanes

A 3960X at $1100 is a great entry point for would-be HEDT enthusiasts as they would also have to pay for the TRX40 motherboard and double the RAM.

A 3990WX at $3200 would be extremely attractive to those who had a 2990WX at $1800, considering that they would have to jump to the TRX40 platform. It also justifies the performance increase from one 64-core CPU to a newer gen 64-core CPU. $3990 seems like the price of some fictional 128-core CPU.

Hell, at $3000 it would still be able to screw Intel over if $2500 seems too cheap.

EDIT AGAIN: For some reason I kept thinking 2990WX was a 32-core, so I based my pricing off that. Prices adjusted as fairly as I can predict based on history

So, big Navi (if it will ever exist) and RDNA2 are still far away on the horizon. Ray Tracing probably too!

Let's get ready for another Nvidia price hike. It seems that AMD is not able to get out of the mid range anytime soon.
