I was hoping for BIG NAVI too as I don't want to buy a 2080 Super or overpriced 2080 Ti as an upgrade to my 5700 XT. Time to wait for the 3000 series.

I never mentioned the 1660 Super. They should be aiming at the 2060 non-Super with that price. Otherwise, just get a 5700 non-XT for potentially $280.

Surprisingly poor 4800U. In the "creators" segment they've compared it to a 4-core casual gaming chip, not the 6-core "productivity" one.

You mean the six core that's still in 14nm+++ and based on an older architecture, with an old igp whereas ice lake is based on sunny cove 10 nm, with a better igp ?

Content creation is often a mixed workload nowadays, so it's either that AMD don't trust their product, or wanted to make a comparison as an apu instead of just a cpu

Sill up just for this! The last Computex was great for them, I imagine this would be similar.

Computex - ZEN3 and RDNA2 for sure. As AMD left the best parts for that event it seems.
They are also going hard in the mobile sector. That is a smart move for AMD, as they can gain significant market share.

Seems Big Navi which is RDNA2 based may be announced at Computex along with ZEN3.
The way to solve the high price issue with Nvidia cards is to basically Stop Buying Them. Then watch the priced fall off a cliff.

You have a RX 5700XT, you don't need an upgrade lol, I am sure it can play any game you through at it with respectful FPS.

Consoles coming in 2021

Microsoft already announced the XBox Series X is launching Christmas 2020. I believe Sony made a similar announcement.
XBOX Series X is targeting 4K/120 with Ray Tracing while Sony's PS5 was targeting 4K/60 with Ray Tracing. I am sure the end products are going to be different as they always are.

Xbox Series X is scheduled to launch in Q4 2020. I mean things can change of course.
Though the 2021 comment must be am error or the speaker got confused.

I've noticed that the comments and conclusions from some of the TPU members about AMD products and portfolio in this thread are really disturbing.

Between that, badly prepared presentations, incorrect Xbox visualization (which they admitted today) and few other quirks, it's really hard to call this keynote a success...

Yes, precisely that one. Because it's maybe 20% slower that 4800U in AMDs best case scenario (among those included on slides), it exists today, it's likely well more polished and better supported by software (Matlab etc ).
And since it's a flagship CPU, it will go into flagship thin laptops - likely paired with a GPU anyway.

Also, since this was a presentation of mobile chips, I expected to hear more about efficiency and battery life.

I'd bet on not trusting the product. This whole presentation seemed unprepared and forced.
Previous Zen APUs were meant to be faster than Intel as well. We know how this ended.

And later this year, as laptops with a 4800U finally make it to the stores, Intel will be launching Tiger Lake, which will be much faster than this.

The only card that brings some extra juice costs a kidney and is therefore almost irrelevant for most consumers. I hope Nvidia doesn't take a lazy step and make a good leap when it migrates to 7nm.

People tend to say that the high-end doesn't matter, but it's very important, It´s the high-end that commands everything. The better cards we have in the high-end and the sooner we have them, the better will be the ranges below.

It was late yesterday, half a year from now it will be even worse. Turing is from 2018, by the time AMD has something to compete with 2080, 2080 Super and 2080Ti, Nvidia is probably about to launch the new generation, getting everything back to how it was before.

Unless something abnormal happens, it seems that Nvidia will continue to have free reign to dictate the prices it wants.

And you raise a great point too. Based on speculative sources about the rumored die size, if this Big Navi is 2 x the size of the 5700XT that would be huge and most likely will require a lot of power and may generate more heat. Perhaps RDNA 1 @ 7nm might not cut it. And therefore 7nm+ RDNA 2 is needed.

Not necessarily that much. Not sure about the VRAM power draw but the GDDR6 uses quite a bit of power i suppose. If "the big navi" is going to be out, some of the power will be used by the VRAM and if AMD decides, 8GB is all that's needed, then this would be the constant. The additional power generated but the added core will increase power draw but I wouldn't say two times of what the 5700X uses if the cores of the 5700X are doubled in "The big navi". Question still remains if AMD can double the cores for big navi.

Yay so their recently release 2020 gpu beats by what 10-15%? at most a gpu that been out since feb 2019. Not sure I would push those slides though if its all they can do to hype a gpu that is barely faster and 1 year late ok.

Unless people are "its amd or nothing" i would bet most people already bought something in that price bracket or likely wait to see what nvidia puts out in this price point in near future since current lineup is over a year old. Kinda think AMD should went cheaper like 240-250 at most.

Have to agree that AMD should have priced its RX5000 lineup $30 to $50 cheaper at release.
