AMD today released the latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition. Version 20.1.2 beta is released to the main driver update channel, and adds support for the new Vulkan 1.2 graphics API. This is in comparison to the GeForce 441.99 drivers with Vulkan 1.2, which were released as a "developer beta." In addition, the drivers add optimization for "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot." Among the two fixed issues with this releases are Unreal Engine 4 titles such as "KovaaK 2.0: The Meta," "Tetris Effect" and "Snooker 19" failing to launch with Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020; and a bug where single-display systems running Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards experience intermittent reboots when the system is left idle on the desktop.

DOWNLOAD: AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 20.1.2 Beta

The change-log follows.
Support For
  • Dragon Ball Z : Kakarot
  • Vulkan 1.2: Product is conformant with the Vulkan 1.2 Specification. Vulkan and the Vulkan logo are registered trademarks of the Khronos Group Inc.
Fixed Issues
  • Some UE4 based titles such as KovaaK 2.0: The Meta, Tetris Effect and Snooker 19 may fail to launch with Adrenalin 2020 edition software.
  • Some single display Radeon RX 5700 series graphics product system configurations may experience intermittent reboots when the system is left idle on desktop.

I guess AMD have the first official release of the Vulkan 1.2 drivers, not beta. Still will be a while before seeing something using it, but it's encouraging.

UE4 still seems to be a pain to deal with, but getting better.

What games use this requiring rush driver release for consumers?

Dude, stop being butt hurt all the time.

Known Issues: A limited number of games such as Nioh , Dead or Alive 6 , Dragon Quest Builders 2 and Atelier Ryza may crash or fail to launch.

At least they finally acknowledge the problem...how many months before they fix it.

Still dunno why the rush, no games use it..

There is no "rush". How can games use features that drivers don't support?

Enough of this sillyness.

@INSTG8R

The games I reported to you now work. Thanks for the help.

I also use KovaaK, but I didn't ask you to report it because I saw it was reported by the developers themselves already. Glad to see that AMD fixed it.

On my setup, the Adrenalin 2020 edition has been a pain in the ass before the last 2 updates. One thing is about the humongous interface, but the other thing is how the GPU driver crashes intermittently and after waking my PC up from sleep. With the January9 update, it's been fixed though, no more crashes and my underclock/volt setup is safe. So hats off AMD, you keep your word on improving your product line.

No kiddin'. I've been having issues where I come back to my PC after dinner or whatever, and it like, WON'T wake up. Even though I have it set to never fall asleep, save for the monitor after 15 minutes. It appears to be "on", but is totally unresponsive. I have to cut the power or hold the power button for the 5 count. I bet this is related. (it didn't do it with the GTX 1070, all else equal)

Exactly, I'm a bit flustered over these sort of issues.

Nioh broke with the 19.12.2 release....19.12.1 and prior worked fine. It crashes soon as the launch screen opens. So its been a few revisions since this was first reported and they JUST are acknowledging it now.....pathetic. I'm thinking what you are.....now how many more months/releases before it's actually fixed properly

Worst yet is if you have a RX 5700 series card in Assassins Creed Odyssey, when in the Elysium world, the game will instantly crash. This has been an issue since the GPU was release in fucking July of 2019. Ubisoft has responded to it but obviously has not released any patch to fix it (they claim to be working on it, but I wont hold my breath given they are over half a year into this known issue with no solution).....AMD has literally ignored this issue!

Great way to keep customers loyal to your brand when this type of lackluster service. I'm sure lots of people love paying for DLC to literally not be able to play it because it doesn't work with their basically flagship gaming GPUs. I had to use my old RX 580 to play through that section of the game to keep going and return to using my RX 5700 XT afterwards. I found a workaround but not everyone has access to multiple systems and multiple GPUs

Do you or anyone else know if AMD ever actually responds to individuals submitting issues like that? I have submitted a handful of bugs recently and am shocked I never received any sort of response or follow up

I would recommend reporting any issues on their official form so they can work on fixing it. I reported Dead or Alive 6 on the form (and to @INSTG8R as he's part of the AMD Vanguard tester team) as it was broken since 19.12.3. They addressed it now and I can play again.

I completely recognize that the drivers may not be stable for some as it wasn't for me back in August, but they did address the issues and have proven that they are working on them. They may not be as fast as NVIDIA in terms of addressing issues like this, but RTG is a relatively smaller group.

Hi Cheeseball! Thanks for the response but unfortunately for me....I have already done exactly that. I was hoping someone had another method to report issues.

Report the problems in the amd driver suite, you can do it through the driver.

To clarify for myself, I think you are referring to "AMD Radeon Software" as in the program that controls all the details of your AMD GPU? If so, that just takes you to the same form linked in the previous post. When you click "Report Issues Online" under the Settings tab you are directed to the same "AMD Issue Reporting Form" webpage.

I'm just a bit taken back by the Assassins Creed Odyssey issue I detailed earlier, and the fact you get zero response from AMD is not what I expected. I guess I have always reported bugs to the game developers instead in the past and you ALWAYS get some sort of response/follow up from them. So to get nothing back from AMD about their specific GPU exclusively having issues with a game they are partnered on is flabbergasting to me.

They are better about driver fixes now than in 2016, i had a specific problem and it was 6 months before a real fix was implemented.

Great, this driver broke Radeon Enhanced Sync for me. Rollback time.

Considering talking to @W1zzard about my power profile based fix. It seems to remedy all stability problems with pretty much any card (well, the two I have tested) at the expense of power consumption. The 5700 cards seem to idle far too low.

It uses soft power play tables in the registry. PM me if interested man. I need access to more testers with problem hardware.
