That's a brutal base finish. The lack of clearance on the mounting is really troublesome.
I think the reason you don't see a lot of 8mm heatpipes in use is because of the clearance problems you encountered.
That's no good for a production product. The price is a bit hard to swallow for what you get as well. IMHO
