CD Projekt Red Confirms a "The Witcher" Title Will Follow "Cyberpunk 2077"

It could be a horrible mmorpg...

I hope the main protagonist will be Vesemir with some story transitions in playing as other witchers as it was done in W3 with Geralt and Ciri.

3 already takes place beyond the scope of the books. The universe is open ended enough for some clever writers to come up with ways to expand the series. It could follow Ciri, it could follow one of the lesser known guilds, there could be a Witcher profession rebirth...

Personally, I don't want it to be Ciri but that is only because it is more difficult for me to get immersed when playing as a female. I do think her story could be very interesting because she is a bad ass and basically has powers to do whatever she wants. That said, she can do whatever she wants so the story could get Uber cliche.

If it is not Geralt, which they said it wouldn't be, I wouldn't mind Letho's story. But that wouldn't be entirely original. Pop's story wouldn't be so bad as that predates Geralt by a few hundred years. Could even be from when Pop's was out the trials and such.

However, my heart will always be with Geralt. Once I finish RDR2, I may go back and do Triss's story unless I go back to Fallen Order.

Edit: Even though witchers are primarily solitary on the Path, it would have been pretty cool to have some seamless co-op elements like CP2077 will have. Imagine a night on the town as Geralt, Dandelion, and Zoltan.

I want to like this, but I just can't. Prequels irk me. They seem to have had a spike in popularity ever since SW: The Phantom Menace, and I'm just tired of them. "Lazy" is too strong of a word, but I want to see how things progress. I don't want to have plot points retroactively stitched together. From a writer's perspective prequels are inherently restrictive, why limit something before it's even created? With that said CDPR did a phenomenal job on TW3, so I'd play it, and I'm sure I'd enjoy it, but I will never fondly anticipate a prequel.

Most likely one is a game with Ciri as player character, imho.
But I would go with Vesemir prequel too. Dude has 100 years of stories to tell, literally, plus that fabulous hat xD

I think he is believed to be over 600 years old.

Btw does CDPR have perpetual license on The Witcher? My guess is the the writer doesn’t like CDPR taking liberties with the story and if he could he'd sell the rights to the highest bidder, preferably Anerican.

I believe when it comes to games, yes. They just gave him another couple million or so not too long ago.

They just extended the license at the end of 2019

And here I haven't even started playing Witcher 2.... :D

Pretty sure that couple centuries at most.
600 years would be more likely for this guy:

Hmmm, I need to look at where I saw that because the same source also estimated Geralt to be About 200.
