Wentai is making an impressive entry into the PSU market with the digital Aidain line, going right up against the Corsair AX1600i. The Aidan T1616 uses a cutting-edge platform with many similarities to the AX1600i. Is the Aidan T1616 able to take the lead from Corsair's AX1600i, though?

What gauge is the power cord? Is it a 12AWG? Thick could just be jacketing...

Had to say before this... Still reading. Really good so far besides the use of 'thick' as a wire rating... LoL

Edit: Ok it's in the specification breakdown but it should be referenced in that sentence talking about it. For clarity.

Unless I'm missing it, does it use all Japanese caps?

The 115VAC thing is confusing, does it not hold up to the same load as when on 230VAC?

How is relative performance calculated? It's just a graph that shows it basically at the top but you have a bunch of analogue PSUs with far less capacity nipping at it's heels.

More details of the efficiency when it's on 115VAC would be really appreciated.

There are some pictures of beautiful caps but there's no description or talk of them.

The parts' description table lists the caps and the respective models.

With 115V the PSU cannot deliver 110% of its max-rated-capacity and with 100V it cannot do full load.

But lots have changed since this is an old article. I am prepping a huge update in the overall performance calculation algo, and I also plan to make a new article about this. Actually this is a side job for Cybenetics, but I also plan to use the new algo in the reviews.

Cense they went for awg16 for the pcie cables they should have went for dual 8 pin per pcie cable. Or perhaps 7 (8+6+2) and 2 single 8 pins.

According to my overall performance chart, the best power supply so far is manufactured by Flextronics, for Corsair, and its model number is AX1600i

You reckon it's better than a Platinum 2000w Superflower or 2200w EVGA? :confused:

Higher Wattage doesn't necessarily mean higher overall performance. The overall performance has to do with many things and not Wattage alone.

They should've sent you the 777W model instead. Far more likely to perform better, wouldn't be directly competing against the AX1600i. As it is, Corsair's offering beats this design in every conceivable way, and since it's priced similarly it really makes the Aidan 1616 a non-starter.

Don't get me wrong, it's great to see another digital PSU, but I just don't see the market for this one.
