At least its finally over 9000 now. That is really all there is to say.

It will all depend on the pricing, else they'll DOA, given there old architecture, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't price them competitively.
Good news for consumers, we'll probably have a price war which hopefully will push prices down.

Maybe not DOA but nothing new for sure and that is in terms of boost in performance by mere margin by some frequency boost and higher price. The latter one is as obvious as the fact that the Earth circles the Sun.
If rumors about RKL, with 8c willow cove, being launched any time after this are true then yeah it is DoA because it'll literally smash CML with clocks to spare

I do not think they are going to price it as high as they have when they had no competition but still new socket and etc....

I’m curious to see what sort of price movement we’ll get with current Ryzen SKUs. Just how low will the 3900X go? Micro center already has sold it for $399.

I'm willing to bet quite a bit lower, but a lot depends on how much AMD will want to lower their prices. I remember reading a few days (months?) back that 7nm TSMC is in high demand but AMD was gonna be the biggest customer at that node. Now with demand expected to literally crash, especially of phones, you'll have lots more capacity for AMD & perhaps more pricing headroom given TSMC is also not in a position to bargain. While AMD can sell to enterprise, HPC, Sony, MS, notebook/desktop makers or retail. AMD is likely poised best among top chipmakers to weather the storm!
Micro center already has sold it for $399.
When :wtf:

I'm wishing I had the funds to build a new system - I don't need a 3900x by any means, but the 3700x for $269.99 at MicroCenter is pretty tempting. I wonder what kind of price cut these will see once the next Ryzen come out and with what Intel is pushing out the door soon.....?

Comrt lake could be DOA not because of what AMD does, but because Rocket lake IPC, originally Q4 2020. Now postponed to 2021, in order to deplete the motherboards abundance, and that is again too close to the 7nm with insane 4x density of skylake, not to mention ddr5. So unless you are doing something very important on that PC, better save you money.

It probably will be, and it'll still sell : P

Oh for sure. Intel stuff is like apple stuff people will buy regardless how bad performance and value they might be.
I totally agree.

Without Ryzen, 7700K would probably still be their flagship for consumer market..

Ryzen really screwed up Intel's plan to milk the crap out of isheep using those quad cores.

It’s already DOA.

Why is it DOA? It's as good or slightly better than the best the chips out there. What do you lamers I mean PC gamers want? You don't need these many core CPUs and +$200 GPUs to play any of the mind-numbing terribly-boring video games that have come out in the past many years.

It's more power hungry, more expensive, slower and outdated 5-year-old technology.
I don't see how even Intel employees would categorise it as "better than the best" :kookoo:

I can get it for that price right now at the closest store to me. Maybe it’s not the same price at all stores?

It should be the same price across all stores as it's advertised in the email blasts. It's the same price at Tustin, CA with 10+ in stock. I think it's been $399 for about a month now?
Yeah... since it was posted on SD it's been over a month. 3700X is $270.

Edit: Also keep in mine you could knock another $20 off with some motherboard combos.

Not DOA for everyone. It's ironic, ( given AMD marketing having a focus on 3D app) but Maya got a bug specific to Ryzen gen 3, and Maya devs are not interested in fixing it, but would rather tell users to use a legacy and inferior option. So now some people don't feel safe about Ryzen for trouble free work:

It will be interesting to see what die each cpu uses.
10900k will have top tier 10 cores dies since they don't use 10 core on laptop, but the 10700k will surely also use the 10 core die
For the 6 cores I guess they'll use defective 8 core from laptop and so on

If that's the case this lineup is more of an update for intel than for consumer, because they'll keep top tier dies for laptop to optimize perf/watt and throw every rejects to desktop market

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Where are those people who said gamers doesn't need more than 4 Cores ?

Now even Intel's fans are thanking AMD for the competition.
They didn't.........as of a few years ago.

I'm still not thanking AMD for anything except their IPC increases and finally being competitive on the PERFORMANCE front. The fact that they have 12c+ processors on the mainstream is ridiculous today and will be for years. 90% of users will have no problems with a 8c/16t CPU for the next couple/few years (even those who do more than 'game'). I'd rather have another generation limited to ~8c/16t on mainstream with even higher IPC/more arch improvements than to shove useless cores and threads down the mainstream throat.

Due to the number of cores/threads it has blurred the lines between mainstream and HEDT. The unadorned see more cores/threads and think it is better, when the reality, for most people, is they don't help. A bare minimum rig that includes gaming and other activities is a 6c/6t CPU. A 4c/8t CPU can still hang in MOST titles with a performance penalty. With consoles coming out, we'll finally see some momentum in actually UTILIZING (not using) 8c/16t, so that certainly helps (in time). But like some said about ray tracing when it came out, that's nice, but its a generation or two away from being a game changer... same with all these cores and threads. Remember Hex cores have been out for almost 9 years already and we just got past 4c/4t being 'minimum'/holding things back.

The 10900K and 10700K could be 125W TDP, and the 10600K could be 95W TDP.
thats at base clocks which isnt even stock operation, stock is with turbo enabled

dang guys, yall finally realized that intel is, yet again, using the same architecture on LGA1159... just saying, should be compatible with LGA1151. Who cares what "leakers" are saying? We know what they said about LGA1151 vs v2, same socket. As a matter of fact, Intel did test 8th gen 6 core dies on 10th gen processors, with the new socket and everything, and it worked. I am 100% sure there is a way to make them work on older LGA1151 boards.

Sure, just slap a physically larger CPU into a smaller board....... will totally work fine once bios modded

Physically larger CPU on a smaller board... I was under the assumption it would still be 37.5mm x 37.5mm and the existing coolers would still be compatible with the new socket? I saw an early leak of a picture of the pin side of the processor, and it was compared to a 9900K or something LGA1151. Exact same size. And most of the pins aligned in the comparison (aside from the notch change, which you can get rid of on the socket by using a razer blade or knife).

Considering the all core turbo on 8c/16t of 5Ghz likely pushed power requirement over 250W, a 10c/20t processor even at 5 Ghz all core turbo should easily burn through close to 300W if not more.

Anyway, the marketing slide is a little off. i9 is 10 core and 20 threads. I am not sure why they mentioned it as up to 10 core and up to 20t. For boost speed of up to 5.3Ghz, I can understand, but not for the core count and threads.
