GTX 980 BIOS mod clock adjustments

I recent aquired an EVGA GTX 980( 04G-P4-2983-KR ) and would like to adjust the default clocks & voltage in the VBIOS. I'd like to bring the minimum(2d) clocks up to 270mhz core and 648mhz mem from the default 135 & 324. I'd like to drop the boost clock from it's default 1367core & 3505mem to 1240core & 3300mem and the standard 3D from 1266core & 3505mem to 1200core & 3200mem. I'd also like to drop the max voltage from 1262mV to 1200mV. This card is going into a system for my daughter and she wants to do a bit of gaming but would prefer a quieter experience but also more solid dual screen desktop performance.

My concern is that It's been a while since I last edited a 900 series vbios and I forget the how all the number associate. Looking elsewhere on the net has brought varied results, often conflicting. I could figure it out, but thought I'd ask for a bit of help.

@eidairaman1 or anyone else with experience, could I get a refresher from you? I'd prefer to get it right the first time.

That's a good article. Unfortunately it does not elaborate on modding the lower clocks. For whatever reason the lower clocks are more complicated. Not sure why. It was like that with Fermi & Kepler too. But Maxwell is different is some way and I can't remember how. Google is not helping with any info either...

Yup, just found that a little while ago. It's reminded me what I was forgetting, which was how all the numbers balance out. I think I might have it, but I've got to do some testing.

it was only fresh in my bottomless pit as I helped someone out a month or 2 back with a special edition gtx 980 mod and it rang a chord with me, not sure if that's the exact thread but should be some decent info in there none the less, think it might have even been a K1ngP1n edition gtx 980 Ti

If you want to keep it "cool", just use the power limit / max temp in MSI Afterburner, or bake the base clock in the BIOS.

Yuppers, got it all dialed in. Limited the power draw/voltage, adjusted the fan profile, lowered the top end boost clocks and brought the minimum(desktop) clocks up to a usable level(405mhz instead of 135).

It was running Superposition for 5 hours last night. It ran cooler and quieter than it was originally and yet performed well. Instead of boosting up into the 1400+mhz and getting really hot(90C) and loud, it stayed at 1300mhz max and well under 75C. Not anticipating any problems with it.
