Good question. I thought that only the 10-core Core i9 needs a new die, and everything down the line could be just rebranded 9th generation.
These Celerons have very low efficiency - 2C/2T @3.4GHz in 58-watt?!

Plausible and most probable. That new velocity boost feature is only available on 10 core i9s, which kind of support your thoughts.

Thats not a core count dumb ass, it'a a PCIE Lane count

Thanks, and... ehm? No? Core count is one of the few metrics that DOES NOT say 'Up to'.

You're doing a fine job at first impressions by the way. Welcome to TPU!

I have found something interesting:

AVX512 slower than AVX2 with Intel MKL dgemm on Intel Gold 5118
One use case, good. I could also dig an example where AVX2 is slower than AVX1 in old Intel Haswell CPUs too.
I have some software that can make good use of AVX-512, Handbrake, yuzu, RPCS3, Visual Studio. Don't let fanboyism stop progress.

Well, with the silicon die maybe, but for cooling, larger heatsink is always better. The IHS plays the role of a heatsink, no?

I mean not really, the ihs is just there to protect the die, it does not help get rid of the heat, that is what a heatsink is for that you put on top of it.
Running no IHS would be better for thermals, so while its logical that its there, less of it is better for thermals.
