AMD Coming Around to Launching the Radeon RX 5600M and RX 5700M?

AMD is finally coming around to launching the Radeon RX 5600M and RX 5700M based on its 7 nm "Navi 10" silicon. The company has, until now, only shipped mobile GPUs using the smaller "Navi 14" chip. A scoop by Komachi Ensaka points to an upcoming notebook combining a Ryzen 4000-H processor an "Navi-10M" GPU. With the right combination of clock speeds and memory configuration, the RX 5600M could offer performance rivaling (or beating) the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (mobile), and possibly on par with the RTX 2060 (mobile). The RX 5700M could compete with the upcoming RTX 2060 Super (mobile) and RTX 2070 (mobile). The RX 5600M could be a particularly important solution, as its desktop compatriot is designed for higher refresh-rate 1080p gaming. Much of the gaming notebook scene still revolves around 1080p, with innovations in the areas of refresh rates.

AMD gave both the RX 5600M and RX 5700M identical GPU core configurations to their desktop variants. The RX 5600M has 2,304 stream processors, 144 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and a 192-bit GDDR6 memory interface holding 6 GB of memory; while the RX 5700M tops it with 256-bit wide memory bus and 8 GB of memory. Both the RX 5700M and RX 5600M are configured with 12 Gbps memory frequency. The RX 5600M ticks at 1190 MHz (game), and 1265 MHz (boost), while the RX 5700M does 1620 MHz (game) and 1720 MHz (boost). Coming back to Komachi's leak about the Renoir + Navi 10M notebook, we predict a working implementation of AMD SmartShift technology. The company even made marketing graphics of this.

Great news. Maybe I will consider buying a laptop with something like RX5600M for day to day work and some fun with games. I been considering new laptop since mine is so damn used up. Some keys don't even work now . Wanted the APU but maybe having something like 5600M is not such a bad idea. I'd like to see it's performance and hopefully the power draw and heat won't be bad either.

About freaking time, that Renoir with, at best, 2060 pathetic combos by OEMs remind me Athlon/Opteron strongarming times.
MX350 is basically an insult, given Renoir's APU is on MX250 levels.

Performance or not, the main differentiator is always cooling capacity, so that all comes down to the actual device they use a chip in...

Let's pray for decent execution, history is not kind in that sense. And that problem is not exclusive to AMD. I will never buy a mobile Nvidia GPU again, unless its a big one in a fat chassis. All I have ever seen is throttle fest and horribly subpar experience.

I would prioritise the pixels count over than the pixels clock.
Laptop screens with 2560 x 1440 resolution would be better than 1920 x 1080 which provides low quality experience most of the time because 1920 x 1080 is a relatively low resolution and today's phones with small screens use it.

3840 x 2160 is just too much with 4 times the pixels count.

The thing is that you won't be able to run any game at 300 FPS to make use of a potential 300 Hz laptop screen.

Best to see if you can get laptops based on a Tongfang-chassis then. Eluktronics, XMG, Sager, Clevo, etc. all have models that can support a full RTX 2070 Mobile (a.k.a. Max-P, 115W), which is what I was looking for. The GPU boosts to their intended clocks as long as you have enough airflow.

Hopefully Tongfang comes out with AMD mobile motherboards as I would like a 4800H/4900HS and RTX 2070 Super Mobile combo, or hell, even 5700M as long as it can match or succeed the 115W RTX 2070 Mobile.

According to most recently found test, the DELL with 4900H and RX 5600M seems to have scored about 4% lower graphics score in TimeSpy than a full fledged unhinged (and properly cooled) mobile RTX 2060 in MSI GP65.
However, the 4900H was even slower than 4800H because the review found the DELL's cooling was inadequate and noted that both the CPU (4900H) and GPU (RX 5600M) would likely produce 'substantially higher' results with adequate cooling.
Its possible that the cooling in the DELL laptop is adequate, but suffers from an incorrectly applied thermal paste... or DELL really messed up the cooling capacity intentionally because they used an all AMD solution (Dell's history with AMD is sketchy at best because it wasn't the first time DELL messed up AMD laptop by giving it low quality screens, components and sub-par cooling).

Eluktronics however as you say is coming out with 4800H and NV gpu's... I'd very much like to see them use/offer RX 5600M and 5700M... since both of those GPU's should perform within 5-10% (more or less) of their desktop counterparts given they have identical core specs with only difference found in slightly reduced core and VRAM frequencies.
