Today, AMD announced three new additions to the 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen desktop processor family - the AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT and AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT processors. Introducing XT branding for the first time to the Ryzen family of processors, the new AMD Ryzen 3000XT desktop processors are purpose-built to maximize performance under any workload. Expanding on the award-winning 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen processor family, 3000XT series desktop processors are optimized with higher boost frequencies to deliver elite-level performance that dominates gaming and content creation.

Today also marks worldwide availability of the AMD B550 chipset, the first mainstream chipset with support for PCIe 4.0. Available in a variety of motherboard form factors, the AMD B550 chipset is perfect for high-speed performance in both gaming and multitasking. Additionally, AMD announced the A520 chipset for socket AM4 and 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen desktop processors with more than 40 designs in development. Alongside these new chipset and processors, AMD also announced the redesigned StoreMI storage acceleration software with a new UI and enhanced acceleration algorithm.

"At AMD, we are committed to listening closely to our customers and the enthusiast community to deliver leadership products," said Saeid Moshkelani, senior vice president and general manager, client business unit. "With AMD Ryzen 3000XT processors, we're making additional optimizations to the 7 nm manufacturing process to deliver industry leading single-thread performance and more choice and flexibility for enthusiasts."

AMD Ryzen 3000XT Series Processors
Building upon the legacy established by the 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen processor family, the 3000XT Series processors elevate the world-class "Zen 2" architecture with an optimized 7 nm manufacturing process technology to offer higher boost frequency and increased performance at the same TDPs of their Ryzen 3000 counterparts.

The AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT offers:
  • Up to 4% increase in single-threaded performance over AMD Ryzen 3000 desktop processors
  • Up to 40% more power efficiency than the competition

Thermal Solutions
AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT retail box processors include a Wraith Spire cooler. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 5 3600XT processors feature tailored specifications engineered for enthusiasts who regularly choose aftermarket cooling for the highest possible performance. As a result, AMD is recommending the use of an AIO solution with a minimum 280 mm radiator or equivalent air cooling to experience these products at their best. A list of AMD recommended coolers can be found on AMD.com to ensure enthusiasts can maximize the potential from the entire 3000XT series of desktop processors.

Expanded AM4 Platform Offerings
The new A520 chipset for socket AM4 is the latest addition to the AMD 500 Series chipset family providing a streamlined, trusted platform to satisfy everyday PC users. These AMD 500 Series motherboards including the new A520 provide essential performance for 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen processors and beyond. The AMD Ryzen 3000XT Series processors also come with unbeatable platform support, compatible with all motherboards equipped with a Ryzen 3000-ready BIOS, including day one support on the entire 500 series chipset families.

AMD StoreMI
AMD StoreMI technology has been reimagined for 2020 and beyond with an all-new interface and new features. Highlights of the 2.0 version include a new caching-based acceleration algorithm that enhances data integrity and prioritizes most-used data, speeding up boot times by up to 31%9 and decreasing game load times by up to 13% vs an HDD only10. With its intelligent design and streamlined interface, AMD StoreMI is ideal for achieving SSD level speed with HDD level capacity.

Availability
AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT and AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT processors are expected to be available from top retailers and etailers worldwide starting July 7, 2020. AMD A520 motherboards are expected to be available at leading retailers and etailers starting in August 2020 from board partners including ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Colorful, GIGABYTE, and MSI.

AMD is not the budget brand anymore. They are starting to inch their prices up, not quite to Intel levels yet, but they are paving the road.

Key words are "up to 4%".
They aren't since 3000 series. They also need as much money as they can get so they could fight off Intel when it wakes up.

If Intel wasn't close to competing at all we'd see the 3900XT at $1,000.

But that is the thing, AMD has been branded for years as consumer value focus. But that was really only because they struggled to compete. Now that they have some really nice products, margins start to win out.

You and him need to choose better words, and considering that's coming from me I apologize for the insult in advance.

Also let's see how the benches play out before completely writing these off.

Only Boost clocks are increased, I thought the Base clocks are going to get boosted by 100-200MHz, also no more inbox coolers, that's really pathetic. I believe this won't be much of any worth. So now with the XT refresh, they are even more selectively binning the Zen2 dies but what about the Zen 3, is it really pushed to 2021 now ? 7NP is already supposed to be fully working and yield also since Apple and Huawei moved to TSMC 5nm, granted RDNA2 and Ampere also there but Nvidia is tapping Samsung EUV 7nm as well for Ampere.

Shame that X670 (fanless chipset I hope and reduced prices) is coming in 2021 now along with Zen 3, again Rocket Lake S with Z590 with same DMI4 upgrade will come as well. Then 2020 is now RDNA2 and Ampere and those Soy consoles.

Pfft...4% single threaded increase. Come on AMD, you basically did nothing.
What do you expect? It's still the same CPU. :D Don't act surprised.

People seem to forget the almost-monopoly days not many years ago, or back when everything was single core and you had to spend $1000 just to get 2.6 instead of 2.2 GHz clock speed.
Then all of a sudden, during the core wars, we get a tiny bump in speed between two major launches and people act surprised and start whining.

I feel sorry for you.

Unless these are some seriously highend bins and do magical all-core overclocks in the neighbourhood of 4.6-4.8 depending on core count... these could be called pointless.

Then I remember that the 10600K goes around 320EUR here. Looking at gaming the 3600XT can somewhat close that ~10% gap at stock clocks around 249EUR it could be said its a better deal.

Then I remember paired with an RTX 2080 Ti these all are within 10% in 1080p and the 3600 only costs 174EUR... so nyeh.

They have worse value than the CPUs they are replacing, with no cooler it's a bit pointless (not that I recommend using one, they are too loud...).

Well you could argue that you could still use that boxed cooler and spend that 50-100USD to something else in the first round of buying the rig and purchasing an aftermarket cooling solution a couple months down the line.

Looks like the 3600XT is the new mainstream gamers choice at $249. It takes the crown from it's little brother, the 3600

Why on earth would you spend $249 on the 3600xt when the 3600 can be had for $179? That's a huge waste of money given the 3000 series can all be coerced into boosting to within 100 MHz of each other normally. I thought that would be evident with the 3600/3600x and the 3700/3800 tests showing virtually 0 improvement with the more expensive versiosn since all were architecture limited. The 3600x/3800x were total wastes of money, and I'll bet these XTs are the same way, just over the margin of error from the much cheaper models.

Good to see Rebrandeon is spilling over into the CPU space. These are as worthless as the 9900ks and the 8086k.

Now that we got that out of the way.

Why wait for benches? These are a whopping 100 MHz faster. WOOOOOOOOOO.

We already know how these will perform. 4% is likely being REALLY generous. If the stock 3000 series wasnt enough for you to upgrade these will be no different.

It's a tech forum not a tool forum.

I am certainly not saying buy buy buy.

4% single threaded is not the total performance gained, do the math.

I'll await benches you lot do as you wish obviously.
I also said regardless I wouldn't buy but you skipped that.

You see via or arm as more viable competition?

I'm down with choosing with your wallet, everyone should.

But if you're smart ass has a better option than AMD or intel do disclose?.

I honestly see zero reason to be upset or complain. These XT versions ARE NOT replacing the non-Xt versions, AMD is just giving more options and a slight performance boost while leaving the MSRP exactly the SAME. Seriously, what is there to complain about? I also heard that AMD is going to discount the Non-XT versions further as well, so at least to me this seems good all around...or am I missing something here?
