So, it looks like they are really pushing the all-access pass pretty hard with a no money down for a 2-year subscription and get the console with the sub. That seems to be a good deal if you plan to buy at least 4 games in the next two years. It seems MS isn't even worried about the hardware sales they are pushing the subscription service. I'm just curious if after two years what makes you want to keep your subscription? Other than not having any games after the fact?

I love it how some of the MS employees complain how MS was "forced" to announce the Series S and reveal pricing/release date of Series X by the recent leaks. What did they expect?

@Mindweaver I suppose MS will switch them to Game Pass Ultimate sub once the 24 month period is over.

Nope, cut down version of the hardware in the X, with less RAM, a smaller drive etc. Most likely being sold at a loss.
Hmm, so are you saying cut down of the Xbox Series X or the ONE X because I think it would be weird if its a cut down ONE X because it would not be that great if it does not at least somewhat match it. But yea I would not be surprised if its being sold at a loss with all those bundles and passes being advertised.

GPU power is greatly reduced, from 12 TFLOPS to 4 TFLOPS (One X is 6 TFLOPS). they said series S is for those who doesnt have 4K TV but want to have full experience on next gen games
Hmm, interesting. Seems a little weak in my book as that's a huge difference in performance.

Xbox All Access is coming to Poland, looks like they're all.

Series S comes down to about $26/month so it's really close to 1:1 conversion, considering the actual consoles translate to $598 for Series X and $359 for Series S it's a good deal. They've yet to announce the pricing for Series X all access but I expect it to be close to $35 just like in US.
Edit.
EA Play also coming free with gamepass.

The pricing seems reasonable (somewhat surprising even) considering the hardware inside it. I'm really interested to see how will Sony react. I somehow doubt they will go above the X pricing for the disc version. Maybe go 50 bucks less for the digital.

The Xbox Series S in this is a rip off. They should lower the price to 19.99 then it will be the same relative price as as the Xbox Series X.

The series S reminds me of the drivethrough speaker at McDonalds.
Does it have Cortana so we can order a Happy Meal while gaming? :p

Windows 10 mode or GTFO. I don't care about video games, I just want to use the machine as a PC.
Maybe don't buy a games console if ya don't care about games

I feel MS usually sells their console at a loss. In this case, they are still doing this. Just taking the Ryzen 7 3700X as a comparison, this console is already close to the MSRP. If we start adding the GPU, and other parts to make this console work, I don't think USD 299 will cover the cost.

All consoles are sold at a loss, they gain their money from online subscriptions and from their share of the games sold.

I'll actually likely be going with their payment plan options. Getting an XSX that I'll own outright after 2 years with a 0% interest payment plan (that's priced similarly to a cell phone plan), including Game Pass Ultimate? That's a killer deal, even if one can arrive at a lower total price point by buying the console outright and then going deal hunting or looking on the gray market for cheap Game Pass Ultimate keys. Elgiganten here in Sweden will reportedly offer these plans, so I'll probably be taking a stroll over there once pre-orders open up.

Nobody says you have to get Game Pass, just buy the console outright and buy your games however you like - new, used, whatever. I definitely don't plan on not buying games just because I'll be a GP subscriber - it's just a convenient and cheap way to play some games. There are still plenty of games that aren't included, after all.

One would hope so, I really don't see the Game Pass as such a great thing, I suppose try it for a month, download everything and see what you like, fine.. But with not being able to keep anything after the payments stop, that's what kills me...

Plus my internet is that terrible, it'll take me a week to download a game and by that point there'd be an update again and then for the Xbox lol I might get chance to play it in two weeks

I hope one day, I might actually get chance to play a game longer than 10 minutes with the children or the Mrs around or before 1am cos I'm not at my best then at all!

Just because you don't find it useful doesn't mean a lot of other people don't, Phill :)
For people who can't afford to spend $60 once to play a single game, paying $10-15 monthly and being able to play a huge catalog of games is very enticing and very consumer-friendly. More choices isn't bad after all, what would be bad is if game pass replaced the regular way to buy and play games, which it isn't. It's just a different way to get access to games that some people find useful, and some don't find useful.

I know of people who use the service but it's never appealed. I can see the merits though as I mentioned, to try a game out, $10 for a months of testing see if you like it etc, it's a good thing (I'd guess you'd be able to pay for the odd month, here and there over time??) so if there's a few you'd like to try, makes life nice and simple :)

I do however feel like the rest of the worlds infrastructure needs to catch up tho, I know plenty of people that this would never be possible for even if they did want it. Here's hoping they can drop the price a little, might get more people using it :)

Oh yeah absolutely. I only buy a month at a time, don't need to have it charge you every month if you just play a few times a year or on an irregular schedule (i.e if you play a game all the way through in a week, then don't play a game for a couple months, you only need to pay for the first month)

I do however feel like the rest of the worlds infrastructure needs to catch up tho, I know plenty of people that this would never be possible for even if they did want it.
What are you referencing here? Network speed? If so, sure, I agree, network speed hasn't progressed quite as fast as our need for more data. We're entering an era of always online, and our network speed is still stuck in the mid 2000s.

Here's hoping they can drop the price a little, might get more people using it :)
I very much doubt that, $10 for 200+ games (remember EA's games are included too) is a killer deal as it is and honestly underpriced. They have plenty of people using it as it is, btw :) It's been huge for Microsoft and the Xbox brand

Oh yeah absolutely. I only buy a month at a time, don't need to have it charge you every month if you just play a few times a year or on an irregular schedule (i.e if you play a game all the way through in a week, then don't play a game for a couple months, you only need to pay for the first month)

What are you referencing here? Network speed? If so, sure, I agree, network speed hasn't progressed quite as fast as our need for more data. We're entering an era of always online, and our network speed is still stuck in the mid 2000s.

I very much doubt that, $10 for 200+ games (remember EA's games are included too) is a killer deal as it is and honestly underpriced. They have plenty of people using it as it is, btw :) It's been huge for Microsoft and the Xbox brand
Well then it's a good deal but I rarely get enough time for gaming like I did, having children really takes it away

Network speed for the UK seems to be back in the 1990's... It's terrible.. I'm sure we are no alone...

I didn't know about EA but I only really seem to play Forza Horizon so for me .... :D  Maybe a poll for TPU could be done to see how many use the service and what their state of internet is like/experience with it...

I would be very surprised if the encode/decode block has a reduced featureset compared to the XSX. The area savings would be far, far too small to justify the cost of not just copying the design wholesale.

In theory? Sure. It's an X86-based AMD SoC, and the Xbox OS is essentially a fork of Windows 10. But it lacks a PC BIOS, there's no way to get a bootloader on there, there's no way to get it to boot off USB for installing the OS, etc. So in practice? No way, Jose. Never happening. Given how heavily subsidized consoles are, allowing running ordinary Windows on these consoles would essentially tank the PC market - why buy a gaming PC for $1000 or $1500 when you can get a machine essentially as capable, running all the same software, for the price of the GPU in the PC?
