That would be really impressive.Things can change in the next 4-6 months, who knows. Yes, the power consumption is a big thing here, I agree.

I imagine Nvidia will try to do something on a better node next year otherwise they just leave the high-end laptop market open to AMD, there is no way they can scale the 3080 or 3070 to reasonable performance in mobile chips.Who knows if that is going to happen anytime soon(at all?). Ampere's power requirements are not conducive to mobile computing.

I can bet it's about 10% weaker in most situations. Come on, we have a good gist already about how close to the truth were the claims in Nvidia's presentations. Now that the dust is somewhat settling... still got my sights on a 3070, but that is only if it truly shows to be on par with 2080ti performance in every situation. Not just the ones Nvidia loves us to play. So far, the level of impressed with Ampere is not exactly going up for me as time goes on.
Once again, you're just pulling numbers out of your backside without any level of logic to explain them. It's almost like you making things up to be annoying.4K 3080 as 100%, GA104 3070S 6144 ~~ 70%, 3070 5888 ~~ 65%, 3060S 4864 ~~ 60%
Nothing in the range of 70-100%.

Chicken or the egg...?As a general rule, the top-tier high-core-count dies are clocked slower to keep heat manageable, whereas lower tier cards are clocked high because they can handle it.
Thing is, all modern IC manufacturing takes the balance of those variables into account. Most companies have an ever evolving algorithm to calculate the best yield metrics for a given product line/model. NVidia's new line of GPU's is no exception. They take the yield & die testing data and calculate binning accordingly.Chicken or the egg...?
... are the final clocks slower because more CUs are enabled on the bigger chips? Heat/power is certainly a byproduct of having more bits enabled and a consideration along with the ability to run more CUs faster.
Yes i failed to notice 3070 has 50% as many more ROPs as were pointed in the review. But overall there must be a wall at 2Ghz that all the dies will hit regardless of size.Once again, you're just pulling numbers
Maybe, but maybe not. Remember also that these new GPU dies are being made on a fab process that has been demonstrated a step up from that which was used for the Turing series GPU's. An number of over-clockers have shown an interesting level of potential. For example, Jay got into the top ten for 3DMark using his tried and true portable air conditioner to chill the equipment. We're less than a month out from release and things have yet to be fully fleshed out. Jay's video below.Yes i failed to notice 3070 has 50% as many more ROPs as were pointed in the review. But overall there must be a wall at 2Ghz that all the dies will hit regardless of size.

That's because they don't officially exist........ not to mention this poll was created almost 3 weeks ago when even less information was available. So.........yeah.This poll is missing 3060, 3050 models, not to mention Ti, Super variants
That is because they have not been announced. I'm sure the staff will do a new poll to see how everyone feels after such models have been made public. I was going to aim at a 3080 personally but now that the prospect of 16GB & 20GB models are more or less shown to be coming, I'm going to wait to see what hits the market. This poll is missing 3060, 3050 models, not to mention Ti, Super variants

Yet that's where my vote would go Either 3050Ti or 3060. I don't care how fast they (3080's) are, I'm not paying 800eu for it.That's because they don't officially exist........ not to mention this poll was created almost 3 weeks ago when even less information was available. So.........yeah.
Well, on the upside, the 8GB 3060's are coming and will give exceptional bang for buck!Yet that's where my vote would go Either 3050Ti or 3060. I don't care how fast they (3080's) are, I'm not paying 800eu for it.

Considering that 3080s & 3090s are flying off the shelves, 3070s are entirely likely to sell very well indeed. Your estimation seems a bit off kilter at best. Pull the other one...Poll - Which car would you buy :
1. Porsche 90%
2. Hyundai 10%
Reality
1. Porsche 0.01%
2. Hyundai 99.9%
In reality even that 3070 won't sell, maybe a cut down of a 3060.

Considering that 3080s & 3090s are flying off the shelves
With etailers like Newegg and such, they're gonna have 10's of thousands per-shipment. That's a lot of cards to go flying off the shelves.Oh and those shelves were full I'm sure.
