RGB is like adding an additional five years to a PSU warranty, or 5c lower to a cooler, or an extra 10% to FPS to CPU/GPU performance. It truly is the miracle tech product.

I'll never trust Corsair. I did one build with with a great Corsair TX750 version 2. On the next build i noticed the TX750 changed to version 3. It was made by Chicory and it had Ltec capacitors and after researching both of those companies i replaced said PSU...never again Corsair!

It's mediocre, maybe, for this money, but not bad by any means. Corsair just tries to fill-up the RGB PSU market niche Thermaltake currently banks in, successfully or not - we'll see. At least this RGB PSU i can recommend (if someone wants to spend extra money on RGB) in contrast with Thermaltake Smart RGB or GX1 RGB, or god forbid a dozen of other RGB shit from various noname brands. Well, maybe not for 100-115$, as you can sometimes get SF Leadex III ARGB for this price but for like 80-90$ it would be a good deal.

Semi-modular version of Focus Gold and it's Antec rebrands actually go even cheaper, at 110$ currently. Granted, you have to decide whether you want a somewhat mediocre PSU but fully modular and with RGB or better one but semi-modular but still.

Ok so the fan is mounted at the top so you are pushing hot air into the case instead of out?

In my case you can't even see my psu which alot of cases have with a shroud at the bottom to help with cable management.

... fans are mounted in the same position and pull outside air into the PSU that comes out the perforated side of the PSU...

That's the old model. You can find the '20 model for $119 when the price isn't inflated at Best Buy or Amazon when its in stock.

For the price your quoting you can get a Prime Platinum '20 750w for $169 when its in stock at Amazon. The Prime Gold '20 750w usually is listed at $149 when its in stock as well.

Chicony is one of the better and bigger PSU manufacturers and Ltec is a good cap manufacturer.

From the four different TX750 PSU's you actually had the best one. The other three from old to new where: CWT PSH, CWT PSHII, Seasonic AT.

And just for the fun of it. Which PSU did you actually buy as a replacement?

They might be now. Back then Chicony had never built anything above 350 watts and Ltec just had gotten over a real bad debacle...I did say never.

Back then Chicony was already a real big manufacturer. Building a lot a high-end server and workstation power supplies, which where build to last.

Ltec wasn't the only one with failing caps ~20 years ago. Also many Japanese manufacturers used incorrectly formulated electrolyte. Actually almost all where affected.

But yeah, you're right, back then there was less knowledge.
