Back then Chicony was already a real big manufacturer. Building a lot a high-end server and workstation power supplies, which where build to last.

Ltec wasn't the only one with failing caps ~20 years ago. Also many Japanese manufacturers used incorrectly formulated electrolyte. Actually almost all where affected.

But yeah, you're right, back then there was less knowledge.

Which PSU did you bought as a replacement by the way?
Chicony is legit but we live in the "if it's not seasonic it's crap and can't be tier 1" world.

Ok I meant the Seasonic Focus GX-750 10 year warranty @ 110 EUROS.

Regardless of 7 or 10 years, I think the point is there are much better alternatives for the price

While I am expert (it is my job) to repair PSU and more, the Component Analysis page did not helped me that much.
70% of brands they shop their PSU's from CWT in Taiwan, and CWT even does the re-branding for them.

But neither I am prepared to bite the bullet and pay 40000 Euros or more for an Low Noise Oscilloscope, this capable to detect whom using more successful electronics design in the market of 2020.

No offence but I feel like you'd better off using Google translate because i have no idea what are you saying there... What CWT has to do in context of this review when this PSU is made by HEC ? And yes ... CWT 'rebrands' their designs for their clients, that's what OEMs do.

If you add your location and age at your profile visible to all, I will deliver an answer that you may be capable to understand.
In real life they are restricted areas which no one will give you any access.
My English text this is fantastic.
Thank you.

What are you saying? That 70% of the retail power supplies are CWT rebrands? That is certainly not true.
Convince me by the demonstration of your electronics repairs workbench, nothing else matters when you post messages anonymously.

It's more this forum. On some other forums they know that Chicony is far above Seasonic.
not to mention other OEMs like flextronics, Delta, super flower(when not outsourcing to other OEMs), etc., all are very capable at making excellent units.

While I am expert (it is my job) to repair PSU and more, the Component Analysis page did not helped me that much.
I'm not a self proclaimed PSU expert but I have stayed at multiple Holiday Express hotels over the years.

I'm not sure what the latter part of the message has to do with anything but with the former; what does a workbench have to do with OEM build percentage? Are you saying 70% of all PSU you work on are CWT units?

I could, but it wouldn't change anything. Because that really has nothing to do with your statement.

Anyhow this is the equipment I have used for testing PSU's, not my stuff btw.

There is a secret cartel based in Greece that controls the OEM used by PSU brands. CWT actually doesn't make any power supplies in Zhejiang but rather grows olives in that province. They then ship these olives to the Greek province of Olympia which has the largest PSU manufacturing plant in the world. CWT then trade Chinese olives (for Greek olive oil) for Greek built power supplies by the cartel. No one else knows this because the Greek Orthodox Church covers it up and controls the liberal media. Burn your monitor after reading this message as the cartel will stop at nothing to prevent people from finding out!

I will say in all seriousness, I know @-The_Mask- (and even @juular ) from the Jonny Guru forums and Mask knows his stuff. I use a different handle name in that forum.

No you will enjoy the suffering which I did too, when Americans using descriptions instead of clear to understand words.
Some one wrote once that he purchased one computer hardware part from a moms and dads store .............. what ? Where are you Google translator? What in earth is that ?

ANSWER: The store which belongs to a freelancer = small in dimension business = not a SUPERSTORE.

About my secret ... this has foundation to my own in-depth knowledge of how many real factories they are out there in Taiwan and in China.
I do not have any good reason to share information's which Google does not have, and also when that power of knowledge this makes me special. :)

"Freelancer" in the USA tend to be contract worker (someone who is not a full employee of the business) and not living in the USA no one here would expect you know the definition of a "mom and pop store". It's a small business, often family owned & operated, that is independent of any chain or franchise.

this has foundation to my own in-depth knowledge of how many real factories they are out there in Taiwan and in China.
What is a "real" PSU factory? Is it one with multiple assembly lines? One with SMT lines?...cause everybody's favorite OEM would fail to qualify for that. Please tell us.

Almost all CX PSU's are build by CWT. The only exception being the first one, CX400 from Seasonic. Current CXx50 which can be both CWT or GreatWall and this CX-F. But the current CXx50 and CX-F from CWT, GreatWall and HEC are actually quite similar. All use a LLC resonant converter design with DC-DC, deliver similar performance and are from similar quality. Also these three are the best CX PSU's Corsair ever had.

I will agree on that, but the new problem this the identification of the real maker due the PCB markings.
CWT become smarter and helps their partners by removing any traces of their own logo from a product.
Add on sticker over a transformer this serving marketing, they know that this product it will be taken apart.

I had this song as LP 45rpm.

Just because you don't know much about power supplies, doesn't makes it more difficult. It makes it only difficult for you personally.

CWT never had a logo on their PCBs and an amount of units from CWT without identifiable markings on the PCB i can count on the fingers of just one hand, with the only notable recent example of such being bq! DP P12, otherwise their designs are pretty obvious if it isn't something super custom. CWT doesn't need to hide the origin of product if that's what you're talking about.

Wow. This forum is filled with really ignorant people (Mask and juular being glaring exceptions).

Now ban me.
Jon, are you stating my expose above is not accurate? I'll have you know it's 100% based on A) alternative facts B) several unnamed sources that I created and C) the Greek cartel would make you deny it.

CWT doesn't need to hide the origin of product if that's what you're talking about.

I did explain with necessary clarity my point.
Latest produced CWT PSU presented at CWT website they have a specific pattern as fan Grill, someone talented in observation he will spot this detail within in 10 seconds, no matter the brand logo over the product, when this is now rebranded.

Which of the following is true

a) Does Corsair make sell Great PSUs ?
b) Does Corsair make sell Good PSUs ?
c) Does Corsair make sell Mediocre PSUs ?
d) Does Corsair make sell Crappy PSUs ?

Correct answer .... all of the above and it's true for many PSU vendors

As to the fan... yeah I don't like it. From the photo on page 2, it's working as an intake and forcing air outside the case. Installed with lettering right side up, it will draw preheated case air, exhausted by the GFX cartd ... i'd flip it upside down so it sucks air in suck air in thru the bottom case opening which most decent case manufacturers place there foir this very purpose. Cool ambient air comes in and gets pushed right out. Of course the LED is part of the fan so in addition to everything, we have to give up sound cooling design for the "instagram friendly" RGB.
