Intel has got the financial might to get back up, that is if they wake up from their slumber soon. At this point, I don't actually think Intel has anything up their sleeve to get them out of this mess they created.

We will know today. But I feel it is not just about gaming itself that made Ryzen popular. If I take Ryzen 2xxx and 3xxx as an example, you would have seen their market share climbing up steadily over the years. Yet none of these Zen+ and Zen 2 could beat Intel's higher end processors in games. What Ryzen brings to the table is a CPU that runs very well as an all rounder. And best of all, it cost less than competition.

Hopefully AMD can keep up with them this time around.

Is Intel even planning on making chiplets?

I guess we will have to wait and see, they need to figure out some thing.

When Intel comes back, AMD is going back where they were during FX era. They definitely need chiplet designs for workstation though, but they know that.

I guess we will find out sooner or later, that mess you call it made Intel loads of money. Going be the same deal with nVidia too soon until people start wanting 4k-8k gaming. Your not going need these new higher performance cards. Like my self i am perfectly happy at 1080p i can only see me moving up to a higher resolution due to being forced to a higher resolution.

And half the amount of cores, so AMD wins that round, no matter if the IPC is lower. IGP is another story tho.

Now shoot me for just posting one benchmark, also, benchmarks are outdated?? :D
Also gimme a soapbox speech about single thread performance. I care.

And yeah, there are faster Tigers out there, but they're still 4C, dunno how 100 MHz turbo would make any tangible improvements.

You're under the impression that everyone is rendering/encoding/compiling day in and day out. Let me disappoint you: a single core performance is what really (and often only) matters for 95% of people out there. I know AMD fans look at the world differently but the world is still there, and it's brutal, and absolute most tasks still prefer single-threaded performance over the number of cores.

Also if you knew CS a little bit better, you'd know that there are basically no tasks which can scale perfectly with the number of cores (because memory bandwidth is very much limited, there are locking issues, there is threads synchronization, etc.) Maybe you should revise your PoV, blind and rampant AMD allegiance and start using your brains once in a while. I'm not saying Intel is better. I'm saying that IPC is what really matters and the number of cores - not so much. Effectively utilizing many cores is still a Herculean task for absolute most programmers. Also in 2020 absolute most games for instance run faster on a fast six-core CPU than on a "theoretically" faster eight-core CPU which has a lower frequency or/and IPC.

I won't shoot you. I just hope you stop drinking AMD kool-aid.

IPC is instructions per cycle. They have about the same IPC these days but intel has more frequency which reduces latency. Monolith chips help here too. That's what gets higher FPS, latency.

Back to the topic, worst kept secret in a while this gens naming scheme xD

Yes. yes... Thats why every major retailer around the world is selling a 3 AMD CPUs over 1 Intel. Because 95% of users care only for ST performance!

Most people are dumb as **** and buy what's cool at the moment, so please, don't throw this crap at me. Also, AMD seemingly has a lot of shills all around the Internet who make any competitive product look worse despite its advantages. For instance now you're trying to downplay IPC which is the ultimate performance metric.

Lastly, despite AMD looking cool, Steam HW survey very much disagrees with your rampant fanboyism. NVIDIA commands over 80% of the GPU market, Intel over 75% of the CPU market. And lo and behold 10900K is the king of gaming except for 4K where the GPU often become a bottleneck.

Start with your rendering/encoding/compiling yet again and how it's absolutely irrelevant for absolute most people out there.

I'm most disappointed at this naming scheme given the Radeon 5000 series; now there will be CPU's with the same naming scheme and consumers will end up buying things they didn't bargain for or want; it's very similar to how Microsoft named the new Xbox and caused a lot of consumers to buy the old version thinking it was the new one.

If someone buys a graphic card instead of a CPU, he's an idiot and shouldn't own (or attempt to build one) a PC at all.

I agree with this sentiment. I recently got a 5700 and it pushes my 165hz 1440P monitor quite nicely. Having said that if AMD releases a GPU that is much faster for the price I paid for the 5700 I am sold.

What on earth are you talking about. Buy AMD because it is "cool" ?
Yeah they do have bigger market but that's dropping down boy. That's the gist to it and it won't happen within a month or so. People don't buy AMD because it's cool or stylish if you'd like. They buy it because they see value in it.
It is hard to believe that you think everyone that buys AMD is a fanboy or stupid just because you think so and it seems trendy nowadays. Actually it's all the way around. They buy Intel because of the trend.
As for myself. I got 4k screen and I'm sure other as well so why buy Intel? Besides there's hundreds other things that would convince others to go AMD instead. Damn, i just cant stand people being so disrespectful and arrogant.

It's exactly the case. Absolute most people don't read reviews or participate in forums and use a calculator to estimate the effectiveness of their expenses, no, they go to a shop and buy what the manager tells them to. Your worldview is really skewed by spending too much time online and thinking all the discussions on the Internet represent a wider audience sentiment. That cannot be further from the truth. If you read comments on most tech-websites, AMD is an absolute indisputable leader in performance, both CPU and GPU, and you shouldn't buy anything but AMD products or you're a dumb ****.

It is hard to believe that you think everyone that buys AMD is a fanboy or stupid just because you think so and it seems trendy nowadays.

Again, most people base their purchases on what's cool and trendy at the moment and AMD has at least gained this status in the x86 CPU market though lots of rational people remain.

As for myself. I got 4k screen and I'm sure other as well so why buy Intel? Besides there's hundreds other things that would convince others to go AMD instead. Damn, i just cant stand people being so disrespectful and arrogant.

Why buy Intel? Because Intel will continue to enjoy the highest single threaded performance until November 5th, 2020. Again, for absolute most people out there single threaded performance is the only thing that matters because they rarely if ever run tasks which require more than four cores. I know it's painful to hear and everyone must rush to buy 3950X or 5950X but, nope, four-core CPUs are still in the majority of PCs around and will continue to be so in the next five years.

Once in a while you should get back to Earth and realize that most people who comment on tech websites are tech enthusiasts and they do not represent the status quo.

Here's a back to Earth proof for you, as even the majority of gamers rock four-core CPUs:

Now you are trying to downplay the huge ZEN2 adoption by the market (1+ year on the market) by throwing numbers that contain data statistics from 15 years back. when AMD had really nothing to compete with.
You think users are so stupid and ignorant and do not see the false perspective you are trying to spread?

ZEN2 is a worthy competitor and ZEN3 seals the deal, you like it or not... Watch the Intel market share drop further. And I wont be happy if Intel drops far behind in future. Wont benefit anyone.

Your judgment is so dam faulty like saying the earth is flat.
