XPG Unveils VENTO PRO 120 PWM Fan

XPG, a provider of systems, components, and peripherals for Gamers, Esports Pros, and Tech Enthusiasts, today announces the XPG VENTO PRO 120 PWM fan. Designed in collaboration with Nidec, the XPG VENTO PRO 120 PWM is customized for discerning gamers and PC enthusiasts that seek for ultimate in PC cooling. Based on Nidec's famous Gentle Typhoon fan design, the XPG VENTO PRO 120 PWM has a high static pressure of up to 3.15 mm H₂O and can pull up to 75 CFM airflow to circulate into the chassis, making it an ideal air intake or exhaust fan to complement water-cooling systems.

XPG VENTO PRO 120 PWM also includes a 4-Pin connector supporting Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), to dynamically adjust fan speed by motherboard software controls for smooth speed transitioning. For convenience and enhanced modding, multiple VENTO PRO 120 PWMs can now be daisy-chained together to operate as one unit.

The XPG VENTO PRO 120 PWM is equipped with high-precision Japanese dual bearings, which allows it to withstand heavy-duty loads and endure high temperatures. The bearings also provide for quieter operations. The fan propeller is meticulously designed to reduce annoying fan noise to a more refined "vibration tone" better suited to human ears. Additional Anti-vibration rubber pads further dampen the noise to 28 dBA during maximum high speed spin of 2150 RPM. What's more, an innovative fan motor design and motor support mechanism, which utilizes a double-vibration reduction structure and a spring instrument, further dampens and reduces vibration.

The fan has an MTTF (mean time to failure) rating of 250,000 hours at 25℃ ambient or 60,000 hours at 60℃, ideal for space-constrained builds with higher internal temperatures. XPG VENTO 120 PRO PWM comes with an extra-long 5-year warranty for extra peace of mind.

Which I had several and loved!
My only 3 pin versions and no PWM
But the construction is awesome, hope I can get it here!

Nice to see these return to general availability, though I have to admit I'm moving towards replacing the single 1800rpm Gentle Typhoon (Nidec-branded, not Scythe) due to bearing noise. And it's just a couple of years old too. I don't think it's anywhere near failing, but when the bearing is the noisiest part of the system when the fan is running at medium to low RPMs, that's not good. Likely getting Antec Bionix P120s or P12s instead.

Are these the same as the PWM Darkside series that DazMod markets, in terms of RPM range? Aside from that, I wonder if it still uses the old-fashioned RBYB exposed wires or if they added a sheath to them. The only notable change is some anti-vibration pads added.

That said, I'd love to see XPG bring back the screamers; the AP-29, AP-30, and AP-31 (the "Gentle" Typhoons with a built-in ring for blade rigidity) in limited quantities as a PWM variant (or variants). My old Scythe version of the AP-31 died some time back and was replaced with a beefier (and even louder) San Ace, used to force air through a carbon pre-filer and HEPA filter for the garage PC.

Actually no it didnt -- Nidec have been operating on their own for a while but only very very select few retailers had them. I had to import mine from a retailer in Canada called Dazmode. Dazmode is also tied to a youtube channel that does fan reviews and the guy somehow managed to talk Nidec into making him a few batches of fans when he showed how big the demand for them was for the GT fans.

(I think they started limited production some time in 2014 or 2015)

They are out there -- I know. I have a few of them. They are called 'Darkside Gentle Typhoon'

Stock might be rather limited now though as they did release them a while back and im not sure how many batches were made as part of the arrangement (or if the ever stopped making them)

PPCS based in Florida has some currently -- They are out there. some retailers have stock, some dont. so YMMV.




Sadly my fans were from the early batches of fans that hit the market when GTs went back into limited production and one of them developed a rather loud rattle coming from the bearing. I think the fan lasted 2-3years though.

Given that AMD used some variant of those on the AIO for the Fury X (ringed GT maxing out around 3000 rpm IIRC) it must be possible to still manufacture them (even if that was five years ago now). The MOQ from Nidec is probably pretty high though.
