ASRock has today published a new product on the company website. The new ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card is the latest addition to the company's offerings. Featuring regular, reference-designed PCB found in the Made-by-AMD (MBA) cards, the ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT even features all of the same specifications as the reference model: base clock 1825 MHz, game clock 2015 MHz, boost clock 2250 MHz, memory clock 2000 MHz (16 Gbps effective). The card itself isn't changed one bit. Even the stickers found on it (which are usually AIB's logos) are still AMD's. The only thing that differs this card from AMD's offerings is the box that the graphics card comes in. That is the only part that features ASRock's branding. When it comes to the pricing and availability, we do not know when this card will arrive, however, assuming the reference PCB design, it will feature a reference price of $999.

And for this "special" box, we can all rest assured that they will feel perfectly justified in jacking up the price by 2-3x normal.....

Uhmmmm, N.O...

I stop caring about new gen graphic card for awhile because I can't find one. Good job both AMD and Nvidia to have stock of 2 per store. /sar

These reference cards only having 2 DP ports is pretty lame.

That is likely more accurate.

It's not like this is a change from releases of the past. When the 8800GT & 8800GTX came out you couldn't find them for at least two months. This is par for the course with both NVidia and AMD. People need to keep thinks in perspective and live with reality. Granted, this round of GPU's the demand has been a bit more intense because of everyone being trapped indoors all the time, but it's not the earth-shattering problem people are making it out to be. Patience is needed. People just need to set their money aside and wait til they can get the card they want.

No, what's lame is them only having 1 HDMI. Some of us couldn't care less about DP for various reasons.

I believe the issue is Turing was expensive and didn't offer any performance uplift, AMD didn't have anything on the top end, so a lot of people want to upgrade to Ampere or RDNA2.
And then we have scalpers, that should be treated like witches in the dark ages.

Yeah I didn't like how AMD did that design as well, I mean if they're gonna block off the whole back IO, at least add some more DP or HDMI ports.

No, it really is as simple as AMD and NVidia have each released their new GPU hotness and everyone wants them.

Lol, why would you buy a case that overheats due to pci slots being closed?
Let the case fans do their job, and don't worry about the miniscule amount of heat that may be evacuated via any tiny holes in the I/O region.

The (vertical?) orientation of the fins means that even if there was an opening there, it would have been blocked by the fin right beside it.
It's different with horizontally-oriented fins because the air can be directed outside of the case, like you'd want to. Such designs are generally used for lower-mid range cards because they are not as efficient for removing the heat out of the card

The new cards look better than they are because the previous generation was so bad, if the 2080ti was more reasonably priced at 650-700$, I don't think people would be so desperate to get new cards.
Unless we're talking about HDMI 2.1, then yeah 4k 120hz on an OLED is just magnificent.

So are you blaming the (r)etailers alone or what.... 'cause me thinks the mfgr has a lot of power and influence over the prices we pay for stuff (MSRP anyone ?)

To be honest, who knows? Nothing is in stock to even know if it is going to get sold for msrp or a testicle.

Your opinion, not everyone agrees. You see, I have my displays running through an HDMI switchbox so I can plug multiple systems in at once and switch to them with a button press. Can't do that with DP and as such DP is completely worthless to me. There are many reasons why HDMI is more useful and preferred over DP, this one is mine.

2nd that Lex, same here at home ! However, at work we use both, due to the variety & number of displays, but that's just our IT guys doin their thing :)

I suppose eventually, HDMI will go away, but until then I'm stickin with it ....

I don't see that happening. HDMI has become an industry standard for the vast majority of consumer devices. DP was an answer to a problem, one that has effectively gone away with the advances to the HDMI spec. DP is more likely to go away and that would be a good thing IMHO.
