Hello everyone, I would like to lower my CPU temps as much as possible while trying to maintain decent performance, the problem with my chip are the spikes of temperatures in games. I know this chip runs hot and that's fine with me but 60 minutes of gaming with 90+ degrees isn't my cup of tea. I will post my Cinebench R20 test results, TS Bench log and all of my TS settings with screenshots below. Also i want to ask if I should maybe try to repaste my CPU? Should that help with my high temps? Looking forward for advice, thanks.

Also small note: Cinebench R20 test was done with 4.5Ghz core limit, TS bench with 3.8Ghz limit.

I was thinking the same, so I replaced the paste today with Noctua thermal paste and ran a test to see the results. Well, they are pretty much the same. I'll post the pic below with TS Bench running at 55W. Could this be just bad cooling and airflow from ASUS? Also, I cleaned the entire laptop from dust and other things, removed CPU fan and cleaned that aswell.

What Asus do you have? Mine is also Asus with the same CPU, but the cooling is outperforming most of its competitors. It might be wrong application method. Such temp differences (19 C) are showing a major fault in heat transfer. Try again, and then again, until you succeed. Sometime takes more attempts. Screw the bolts very carefully according to their numbers. Even layer and appropriate tightening, with no air pockets are very important. Also try not to apply too much paste.

The model I'm working with is ROG Strix Hero 3 - G531GV. The fans on this model are quite powerful but the CPU spikes in heat regardless. I'll try to repaste again next week. Nice, you chip runs very chill, what Asus model do you have?

Mine is G731GW. I bet the proper repaste job would make yours be like mine or better. I also use Noctua NT-H2 and consider this the best choice available.
