The Chieftronic PowerUp 850 W is an affordable model, considering current market situations. While the capacitors are not top-grade, probably for cost reasons, overall performance is still satisfactory, and the power supply runs whisper-quiet.

Yikes.

For the same money you could have such a better power supply from Super flower, EVGA, Seasonic or even Corsair. They are overvaluing that PSU a little

A Corsair RM750x is €126.28

I don't think NXP supply IRF MOSFETs. :D

I wish there's more attention given to the 85C rated caps. PSU is inherently hot in the first place. Its location next to primary switches is probably the hottest part of the whole circuit.

They could add "TECH" before "POWERUP" in the model's name

Seems very similar to the ADX Power W850 which is £30 cheaper.
Unless Curry have switched platform, ADX Power looks more like CWT GPU which is good stuff (Bitfenix Whisper, Enermax Revoltion DF) if they stick to the stock config.

I had Chieftec PSU few years ago. It also had quite relaxed fan profile and almost like 3 fan speeds 'inaudible, irritating and loud'. Switching between those first two all the time

Yes I think you're right.

Strange one as the ADX Power is only £89.99 and comes with a 10 year warranty and is actually in stock. So why buy the Chieftronic?

I got one earlier in the year because a PSU failed and I have a Curries nearby collection, would normally order online but delivery from online very long due to Covid madness.

ADX Power 10 years warranty is very questionable:

Also I was unable to find its 80 Plus certification validation as well as any review.

In my place this Chieftec costs 95 EUR. It is strange, that Chieftec products are always 25 - 30% cheaper than their MSRP.

10 year warranty is on the product page:

Really doubt Curries would advertise that if it's false.

I only got mine as a stop gap as I was desperate to not be without main machine for weeks. Good reasonably priced components that will do a job are available at least in current crazy circumstances.
