I remember when they debated is Desktop dead? That was in the craze of Tablets, I laughed because I knew it will not and here we are the PC market is stronger each year.

Thanks to continious development and great games and services you will always get the best graphics on PC first.

As for prices they are getting rediculious they need to get down.

I hope the tariffs stick, the intention is to keep a level playing field between the cost of labor. As for the EPA doing it's damn job, not sure if you've noticed the earth has been on fire and extreme weather events have become seasonal.

Plus what better way to compete by taking back leadership in new green technologies where China is #1 right now.

Tariffs don't change the fact that the US doesn't have anywhere near the supply chain china has nor the factories or manufacturing expertise. Even if you assume that these Tariffs bring the cost of labor on par with the US (which they don't), you are still missing every other piece of the puzzle.

Asking for companies to build factories in the US while failing to address the distant lack of factories, skilled labor, and other factories that supply parts like screws and metal fabrication is planning to fail, plain and simple. It took china decades to build it's manufacturing logistics and to disseminate skills among many workers.

Moreover, there's nothing stopping these companies from simply relocating to another low labor cost country. To top that off, you also have to consider the impact of automation. There may come a time soon when the only manufacturing jobs left require a formal education or more training then simple trade school can provide. Again, that's another category America does poorly in, given that people are robbed blind by the higher education system or simply don't go at all.

I am sure there are supply issues out there that will increase the cost of operating, but to put the import tariff as one of the reasons to increase price globally is just lame. The likes of Asus is not even a US company to begin with and they produce almost all their products in China. My take is that the tariff will apply if they are selling it in US and nothing to do with the rest of the world, which should work just like any other tax or tariffs in the country.

This just sounds like a reason to try to bump selling prices even higher to maintain their profit because I am pretty sure the likes of Asus is not selling that many motherboard and GPU with ongoing supply issues.

I went consciously for Series X in November and might just pickup ps5 in a couple years. Not paying 500+ eur for mid-range card when a console provides a whole system for less with similar/better graphics power.

Nvidia is already selling the 3070 for 1000$ and 3080 if found is sold for 1200-1300$
In the end all announced MSRPs were just bullshit and only the price of 3090 turned out to be true

LOL... Nvidia sells their cards for MSRP... It's all the other companies who have the more expensive cards.

And that would matter if they had more than 5 GPUs in stock per month and they would ship to the rest of the EU, not only the countries their website is in - for example nvidia.de shipping only in Germany, etc.

I guess the same goes for ps5
They have Dark Souls and Spiderman but that's it for them too. My cousin was able to get one and those are the only games he says are worth it. I probably couldn't get one if I wanted one right now but can get an Xbox. The PS5 is outselling every PS console to date.

Just looked and PS5 almost doubled the sales of XBox.

I'll still end up buying a 3080 but I'm pretty surprised that it's a Republican president and congress that raised taxes on muh computer parts. Unfortunately now that we're in these tariffs it's a lose-lose situation. It takes a long time to wind down an economic war or pivot to new supply chains. We'll end up having to unilaterally drop these tariffs that they retaliated for already with no guarantee that they'll also deescalate, or these tariff will stay here until a full trade deal is finished in who knows how long. This will mostly hurt poor people at a time when they're already not doing so well. Thanks Trump.

PS5 is riding on ps5 wave. X360 was beating ps3 heavily back in the day. Considering general public liked TLO2, I’m not surprised that dummies lined up for ugly ps5 with lower specs no worthy games to play until something like new God of War or Days Gone 2 will get released.

In my country midrange gpu's are out of stock, you can buy low end parts like rx 570 4gb or rtx 3070 to 3090, even 6800xt and 6900xt are in stock now but the prices are over 1000$ with the top ones going for 2000$.
I wanted an upgrade but I'll skip this year.
I wanted to upgrade my 2013 Gigabyte R9 290 in 2019 after I bought a 75" 4K TV to game on. One thing or another kept me from doing it. Either the available cards were not enough of a speed improvement at 1080p to make the expenditure worthwhile, or the cost of a substantial upgrade, something that could actually drive a 4K display in the games I play, at about $1,000+ CDN, kept me from pulling the trigger. I finally found an MSI RX 6800 Gaming Trio X last week at a store that JUST got it in a shipment for $1019 CDN. It doesn't even fit in my HTPC case, but I pulled the trigger and built my HTPC in another, old case that I had sitting around. Considering it has 16GB of video memory, and how long the Gigabyte R9 290 lasted me, I'll probably have this card for 4-5 years. The R9 290 is now in my 2nd gaming rig that drives a 42" 1080p display for my wife, and will probably continue to do so for a while longer.

Do you have any evidence to back up this claim? How can you possibly even know that when you don't know where I was getting my numbers from? I have nothing to gain by saying PS5 sold nearly double XBox X. However, I want you to show me evidence that the numbers are skewed so I can possibly change my post and prevent the spread of 'fake news' lol.
