SilverStone Intros SX1000, a 1000W SFX-L Power Supply

SilverStone rolled out its most powerful PSU in the SFX-L form-factor, the SX1000. This 1000-Watt beast tops the power-density charts for SilverStone, and offers connectivity to power even an HEDT or workstation. Under the hood, the SX1000 features a single 83.3 A +12 V rail, active PFC, DC-to-DC switching, and boasts of 80 Plus Platinum efficiency. The PSU features most common electrical protections, against over/under-voltage, overload, overheat, and short-circuit. A 120 mm double ball bearing fan is used to keep the PSU cool, which remains off when the load is under 200 W. The SilverStone SX1000 features full modular cabling. Connectors include a 24-pin ATX, two 4+4 pin EPS, six 6+2 pin PCIe power, eight SATA power, three Molex, and one Berg. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Holy crap. Now, that's some real engineering on display. Not only is it 1kW, but they also had enough space for 120mm fan and a daughterboard with modular connectors.
Less than 10 years ago even a 500W SFX PSU looked like miracle, now we have 850W from CM and 1kW from Silverstone....
If they make a >600W FlexATX in the nearest future - I'll be the happiest chap in the world.

How did I not know about CM's 850W??? They are killing it this year. Also where did you find the 1000W Seasonic? It's not on their store page. Did they just announce it?

Still quite close. Cooler master recently launched 850W SFX, and this thing could shave off another 15-20mm just by being non-modular.
If sometime in the future we move onto Intel's ATX12VO, then it's totally doable.

What? There are tons of cases that use SFX. The Coolermaster NR200, LianLi O11D Mini, Sliger Cerberus, Phanteks Evolv Shift, NZXT H1, just to name a few.

I own this PSU, the fan noise is unacceptable. They are however offering replacements to those that were in on the first batch which had a large amount of defective fan controllers. I will be taking them up on this offer whenever stock returns, but the bearing noise is still louder than any PSU I have ever owned in the past. Their reasoning per the Silverstone rep is that it was intended to serve enterprise/industrial customers as well where noise is not an issue....In that case, I highly recommend that they consider splitting out two sku's with differing fans for home desktop use.

Because sfx sfx l are more expensive and cant beat the quality of a good ATX unit. If you check psu tier lists, sfx/sfx-l do not have a single psu on tier A, even platinum units

A couple years ago Coolermaster pitched a concept where the fan is modular and can be switched out. Kinda wish more PSU makers did that.

You see that they all are extremely random, don't use logic and are an extremely bad source for PSU information.

Yeah that's straight up false. The corsair SF series both gold and plat are top tier on those lists.

Personally I'd love an 850/1000 Titanium rated true SFX, ideally from Seasonic or Corsair. Seasonic do have new SFX PSUs coming but they're upper mid range not top tier.
