RGB effects: Trident Z Royal Vs Spectrix D60g which one is the cooler?

HI,

After the RGB disappointment of TEAMFORCE ARGB XTREEM (only good if there are no other LEDs in your build. I will swap my DDR4 for a better RGB effects. After doing a lot of research learning about CL, Mhz and others I have come down to 2 Ram Modules...

First one is the famour Trident Z Royal (which at CL14 is tough to find and expensive)

Second is the ADATA Spectrix D60g (which i have found at 3600Mhz and Cl14).

On one hand the Spectrix has more RGB to offer but the Royal has crystal effects.

I would like to ask OWNERS or people who have seen them in action which one they recommend for an RGB build.

Trident-Z Royal in silver finish looks neat because of the mirroring on the sticks, however I could never manage Trident-Z RGB software from G-Skill's site work. I put in some Crucial Ballistix CL16 2x16 kit today to replace my Trident-Z RGB kit, way better RAM, and no bling. Functionality > bling.

Just curious what makes them better besides no bling? Their software is a bit clunky.

Royals FTW... They look much better in person vs any stock photos I've seen. Although I think the Night hawk ram from Teamgroup have the coolest stock effect.

The Micron older kits use E-Die, most impressive stuff. If you happen to find those, most of the chips are excellent.

They however now are taking the E-Die units to their own B-die's, which are said to be a little worse but still great.

Ok well here is a shot of mine, just using the gskill software.. I installed it so it wouldn’t look so stock haha. It was just stock..

You can see where I noticed it was dusty yesterday lol.. I should have broke out the datavac first but I don’t really care right now.. I gotta tear into it to replace the psu soon.

The issue I have with the Royal vs the D60 is that you end up paying almost double for the Royal. You could almost pay for 4 sticks of 3600 D60 for the same as 2 sticks of 3600 Royal. I really don't think there will be a noticeable difference between the 2 using the same settings. The D60 is usually looser in timing but RAM speed (up to 3800) is the optimal mitigating factor for Ryzen (right now). The D60 does not have the same effect as the Royal but would tie in more with a traditional AIO. There is a Silverstone AIO that would look epic with the Royal though.

You can use Mystic Light 3 as well, it sometimes picks up these Trident-Z sticks as OloY or something, and you can control the RGB over there.

Yeah me too. I just don't like that it likes to reset itself every couple days and remove your settings. I also find (though it has improved) that it can contribute to the odd shut down but the BIOS Flashback function is rock solid. My setup is currently MSI with the MB and GPU.

Royal all the way. I have two kits in silver and gold waiting for Zen 3 to return in stores. 32gb 3600 mhz CL14 kits.

I can't show you RGB as I have no cpu yet for my am 4 motherboards.
