CORSAIR, a world leader in high-performance gaming gear and enthusiast components, today announced the launch of a new range of performance RGB cooling fans, the iCUE SP RGB ELITE Series. With eight vibrant individually addressable RGB LEDs per fan and CORSAIR AirGuide technology for powerful directed airflow, the SP RGB ELITE Series is now available in 120mm and 140mm sizes to cool and illuminate any system. SP120 RGB ELITE fans are available in a Triple Fan Kit with an included iCUE Lighting Node CORE Controller, or as a single fan to expand your system's cooling. SP140 RGB ELITE fans come in a Dual Fan Kit with the iCUE Lighting Node CORE, or as a single fan.

SP RGB ELITE fans are each equipped with eight individually addressable RGB LEDs, putting on a mesmerizing lighting display as they cool your PC. SP RGB ELITE Series fans feature CORSAIR AirGuide technology, utilizing anti-vortex vanes on the frame that channel airflow into a concentrated cone directed toward your PC's components. With PWM control, you're able to set fan speeds anywhere from 550 RPM to 1,500 RPM (for SP120 RGB ELITE) or from 450 RPM to 1,200 RPM (for SP140 RGB ELITE). Say yes to RGB actually, its great, beats the hell out of picking a single color cathode tube or crappy led strips to illuminate your case. The flexibility and customization cant be beat.

I'm just always fascinated that basics of aerodynamics which exist / are known since the first jetstream engine designs slowly creap into fan-designs (which makes sense) and is then celebrated as revolutionary.....

I mean, really? It's not that it isn't great that things change, I'm just always surprised that the companies actually only take baby steps (cost/efficiency standpoint while asking a premium from the customer none the less) in development instead of actually just going the whole way - Don't get me wrong, optimized blade-forms pushing air through a stator to have a more laminar air flow is a great thing, but it's not "revolutionary" ....


I mean, we'll never get to the point of where they'll use two rotors with counter-balanced blade-forms and a stator in-between for a super-laminar air-flow (similar to compression stages on jet engines) (which is still possible with 30-40mm high/"thick" fans and a single shaft/motor in the middle) because that'll actually take engineering and tinkering with materials to a new level ..... but technically even that wouldn't be impossible. And closer to a "revolutionary design" than all the "super amazing" (tiny incremental) improvements they do nowadays....


Also, if I celebrate "LED" they should have made the stators translucent instead of black. Or include the lighting module in the stator instead of the rotor maybe. What annoys me the most in most LED-options is that it's always only on one side .... and if you use them for instance as "intake" fans you always see the "not lit up" backside (as intake on the bottom of the case or for LianLi o11 in the side for instance). It wouldn't be a big deal to even make the casing translucent or at least the static parts holding the fan. Doesn't need light in it, but at least not be "black" ... with multi-cast-tools not a big deal or costly or hard to implement. But again. We're not "there" yet, where Fan-designs actually take into account what possibilities there are (it's all intended to "work on the production line we payed off 30 years ago, so incremental changes only please!!!" so the net-profit is optimized to infinity with as little investment as possible - understandable but still sad as we still have to pay a premium for that)
