Overclocker extraordinnaire Roman "der8auer" Hartung has achieved a new world record for GPU clockspeed with the help of exotic cooling and PowerColor's RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil Ultimate. The PowerColor Red Devil Ultimate features the latest and greatest bin of any RX 6900 XT chip, featuring AMD's Navi 21 XTXH silicon (device ID 0x73AF), with improved clockspeed potential and lower leakage than the usual XT cadre of chips. Using LN2 cooling which dropped the operating temperatures of the card down to a finger-killing -87 °C, the overclocker managed to reach a 3,225 MHz clock - as reported by our very own GPU-Z, which continues to be the diagnostics tool of choice for graphics cards. Look after the break for the full video leading up to this overclocking feat.

even if I had Nvidia, I would turn off ray tracing even in games like CP2077, I prefer high frames over RT. the more frames the better imo. 165hz fps is so smooth to the eyes boys!

Amen to that. I'm straight up boycotting the whole RT affair into the ground. Nonsensical money pit, when we're back to 2017 MSRP they can try again. I hope and pray the content barrier will kill it. Its fast becoming chicken-egg and even better, it happens in both directions. Consumers haven't got cards OR games that can use the technology.

There is no sane dev going to invest big into it, and if they don't, all RT will do is impact FPS for a minimal change, which is an impossible sell. Its becoming very easy to just develop on tried and tested technology with the added knowledge that your entire target audience can use it. On consoles, there simply isn't enough power to do anything much more than a few god rays.

When Huang said 10 Gigarays I knew this and I've only seen more confirmation of it daily ever since. Too early, too little, and economically it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

the only thing I give credit to Nvidia for is bringing DLSS 2.0 to the spotlight, it truly is the game changer. I just hope they can optimize 1080p upscaled to 1440p, I could care less about the 4k DLSS stuff. I want to run 165 fps 165hz with no drops in frames in all my games maxed out at 1440p. please Nvidia/AMD, do whatever you have to do.

Oh yeah and variable rate shading and all those other efficiency-oriented technologies too. Those are fantastic developments, and the ones we'd expect first and foremost from GPU makers. They're supposed to be enablers, not dividers of a market in have/havenot. When a company like Nvidia starts actively marketing a heavy processing job, you know what it is: more leather jackets we never see but do pay for.

Its a very simple thing of commerce, create demand where there is none, and you have yourself a market to dominate. Even if its not really a market - if people believe in it, they make it one. Nvidias timing gave that strategy away. If it was an industry effort, a big push to RT as it should be for something so substantial, then the timing would have been different and the whole affair much more directed and convincing.

AMD does what Nvidon't

FTFY.

Real time RT is a total waste of processor time anyway. What has been put out is hardly noticeable, and even massive rendering farms take time to process a single frame for animation purposes.

Raster based shadows look good enough and run on a potato. I'll just stick with my vega 64 for another generation and wait for prices to come back to earth.

Note that AMD still has not invested in any sort of core that does RT only. Writing on the wall.

Remember how they said pre-RDNA that they would only deliver it if they could touch the midrange convincingly with it.

Take note of how Nvidia is already heavily marketing DLSS 2.0 over RTX ON. They have to keep those extra cores at work and its likely AMD turns to a similar ball game, with an overall more versatile architecture/die. Take note of how the consoles have not implemented heavy marketing of RT content.

Insurance policies.

ANYWAY... 3225 Mhz. My apologies for OT

I thought these cards were driver limited to 3000mhz core
That was the 6800/XT. I dont think the 6900 has such a limit.

Navi 21 XTXH? So that means some of the 6900XTs are actually binned?
