And that's the root problem with Linux on the desktop - industry support is still lacking after more than 20 years. It's powerful and solidly well made, but what good is it without mainstream apps running on it like they do in Windows, or better. It's a real chicken and egg situation by the looks of it that Linux will never get over.

Libreoffice works fine on Linux, and from my experience vast majority of companies I have seen really only need their computers for Excel, Word, Email, web browsing. I know many companies need specialized software, I'm not referring to those companies here, just saying, Linux is still applicable to many smaller companies

Yes, it's great where it can be used and can save a lot of money. No product activation is a real plus. Hate it with a passion since Microsoft introduced it 20 years ago with XP, regardless of how "easy" they make it.

Another benefit of Linux, is that what you have is often the equivalent of the Datacentre edition of Windows Server, costing thousands. And it doesn't cost a penny.

depends what you do though right? Steam usually comes preinstalled to my knowledge on Ubuntu or Mint? so I would simply sign in, and click install a game, and hit play. that's literally it? I am under the impressive the latest cpu/gpu drivers are built into linux kernel so i don't need to bother updating like I do on windows. its actually more plug and play if all you want to do is play a supported steam game, or am I wrong?
Yeah nahhhh only 25 percent of my library just works and it uses generic driver's

Libreoffice is great, screw Office.
I use LibreOffice daily, I also use Office daily, Libreoffice can not replace Office. It's fine for writing basic letters and basic spreadsheets, but the minute you try to do anything complex, and it falls on its face.

Good thing I don't need to do anything complex then

yep everyone's use case is different. I have very simple life and don't need anything complex for work either. so just makes sense to me.

Yeah, I have LibreOffice installed on pretty much all the servers I manage. Why waste an Office license when I'm mainly just taking notes or opening a spreadsheet? But even something as simple as printing envelopes or labels can be a real pain in Libreoffice compared to Office.
