If you're a fan of From Software's games - and that requires that you have slight masochistic tendencies and enjoy evocative world building more than most - there are good news for you. From Software has confirmed that the game will be released come January 21st 2022 in all major platforms - including the all-dominating PC sphere. The game's worldbuilding has been crafted by both From Software's veteran Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin (of Game of Thrones fame), and will feature an open-world game with horse riding and the usual From Software design philosophy. I hope it's more than just open world Dark Soul's personally. I'd like to see some new mechanics/creativity/original thought... otherwise imo its just a "safe" cash grab, and those always come across as boring to me at the end of the day.

Is it me or do the graphics look quite outdated?

That's how I've felt about all the Souls games, even Bloodborne (though the design concepts of that game helped cover up the quality issues). I think if the mechanics are tight, the gameplay is good, and maybe decent story/world lore on top will be enough to overlook some dated graphics. 8K textures in a souls game don't help you pull off parries and dodges.

the elden ring itself should have like a time rewind mechanic like prince of persia sands of time, would make things really fun imo. even if you died and saw a neat strategy around it only 5 seconds after or something. im really not a fan of dark souls series, so i will pass on this one. its not really skill imo. just die x amount of times until you finally learn y amount of movements. if thats all skill is, sounds boring to me. i like "creative skill" i have come across it in a few games, but not many.

Surely Elden Souls would have been the appropriate title. A lot of monsters look the same, game play is the same, only the environments have been changed, but they still look way too familiar.

The remake wasn't handled by FromSoftware. The task was instead given to Bluepoint Games.

They are still using the Havok engine that they used for Demon souls and Armored core, upgrading it slightly with each new game

Reading the comments here, TPU comment section is the only place i'v read that have lukewarm reception to this announcement, every other website and its audience are crazy hyped for this game.

How about you guys try to have a little fun every now and then, there's no need to be so pessimistic about even the cool things cause it makes you look smart and deep :oops:

not sure about the time rewind mechanic how that would affect other players, assuming this will have some sort of multi player.

Not sure about this idea that graphics look dated. Sure textures seem a bit low res on some assets, but overall the game looks great. And Im not some FromSoftware simp either. I have barely played any of their games.

I may actually play this one. I like the big open world aspect of medieval games.

I know I was just talking about how the remake is a souls game that looks rather good I thought. I was just referring to 'they' as the team that did the remake.
