The SilverStone RM42-502 is a 4U server rack chassis for building a potent dual-socket system for heavy workloads or rendering jobs. As such, it is sturdy as well as functional at its core. Even so, you are able to transform the chassis into a full SSI-EEB and SSI-CEB compatible tower case.

Were the price lower I'd buy this for my desktop. Also I wish you could buy some HDD cages for it.

I'm amused that they market this as a "high-end server chassis" but it has front panel audio and the specs list the external bays as "optical drives".

looks like they repurposed early 2000s tower cases with those 80mm rear fans and top-mounted PSU.

4U chassis like these make for awesome builds unless you want a more glass/open setup for RGBness. I'm using Rosewill 4U cases but I'd definitely go for Silverstone too.

Buy a hot swap drive bay for the 2 x 5.25 bays.

"optical" is a suggested use for those bays.

agree about the 80mm fans, also the PSU can be side or bottom mount depending on where you place the feet and orientation.
