Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have tried many differnt bios roms here but they all show up as rx590. Original bios is corrupt could just be the card because its 4 years old. need a new copy of OG BIOS please. I threw this card in the oven and it shows up in windows now atleast ;)

I will help

First thing first, get pictures of all white stickers on the card, they can be on the side of the gpu heatsink by the pcie blade contactor.

Then since the card does not work, pull the heatsink off and get a close up picture of 1 memory chip and then all of them surrounding the motherboard post all pics here.

Replace the gpu thermal compound.

Also a card being 4 yo doesnt mean squat. Was it used?

ok i believe the card is just dead it showed up today as rx 580 in device manager when i booted up my pc this morning but shortly blue screened after windows boots up with thread stuck driver error. Also not using the gpu as main display. When i first got issues with the card I was getting TDR video error with the drivers getting corrupt after every blue screen and the card showing up as rx 590 in device manager (wich led me to believe the bios was corrupt)

I have replaced the thermal compound and bought new thermal pads for the vram bands same error occurred.

and yes this card was used extensively and had a 3 year warranty. not sure if this card can be revived. oh well i purchased this card for $400 way back and now its worth $700+

Lets try a few things first.

White sticker picture from the card back, pull the heatsink off get a close up picture of 1 ram chip. Replace compound and reinstall heatsink. Send pics here.

I have a 99% chance of getting you the correct bios for the card, Ive helped restore fake 1050, 960 ti cards back to 450GTS even...

I think I got rid of the back sticker haha and I know my thermal paste job sucks but the card actually never went over 50*C

You can’t read what it says on the ram because the thermal pads took the white ink off but I can make out the word elpida

Removing part number codes is tampering with identification and makes it difficult to ID the card for proper bios to use.

Get a pic of heatsink and fans please

Is there any writing on the gpu die?

I know the ram says elpida but whats the number under that?

The serial number is there on the front of the card you can’t use that? Right above where it says product of China

Im not the manufacturer.

I just learned that Micron bought Elpida in say 2013...

So i wonder if micron timings may work but thats for a later time.

The strangest thing is that elpida memory is 0.5GiB so x 8 gets you 4 GiB

@GPUnoob I found several RX 580 bios for your card.

Let me post several that will work on your card.

This is a very old file.
2017 04 05

2017 10 24

2017 09 12

The rest are from 2017 04 05 or older. Here. Elpida memory tables must be present or flash will fail.

Thank you I will get to testing these out. Would it fix a blue screen error that I am getting? Thread stuck driver error. I just recently got it when trying to install the driver. ( I have not flashed the bios yet) will update.

Get 1 of the files above.

Get this tool.

Extract the zip file.

Right click on the ati/amdvbflashWin.exe open with administrator rights.

Find file you just downloaded andflash it.

Stop trying to install the driver and do the bios flash.

Then make sure your motherboard chipset driver is updated.

Then get the latest gpu driver or tey the enterprise driver.

If your system is overclocked in any way I would return it to stock for now.

Yes! thank you so much its finally working! i cant believe it i honestly just thought this card was dead but i think the real problem the whole time was my mobo bios needed to be updated after i flashed my mobo it has some compatibility issues with the gpu! I used the original gpu bios (the first one) and here we go i was using onboard graphics getting 70-80fps in games now im back to 200+ fps :DD

Now please stop thinking that putting a video card in the oven fixes the problem permanently. It actually can cause more damage.

Next time do the bios route with my assistance in this thread.

Above all Im glad it works

My first problem was tdr_video_failure blue screen. Then I was not getting a display after switching to mobo graphics and checking devices the card wouldn’t even show up before I threw it in the oven and replaced the thermal pads
