Taking cues from sci-fi in general and mainstream successes like Ready Player One, Cooler Master has introduced a self-contained, semi-enclosed workstation for gaming and professionals. The ORB X GamePod is being hailed by Cooler Master as a privacy-geared solution for increased immersion and productivity throughout all planes of PC usage, whether you're a professional or a mainstream user with gaming aspirations. Catering to those use-cases, the ORB X features support for either one 49" monitor, or up to three separate 27" monitors, and includes a 2.1 surround sound system in its carcass.

Like the name implies, we're looking at a "a fully automated motorized shuttle dome" - featuring quality of life improvements such as an adjustable head rest, lumbar support, and a footrest for comfort customized to its personal user. A USB hub, mouse and keyboard tray, and wireless phone charger also make their appearances so as to make this the (almost ultimate) solution for self-contained productivity or entertainment. The dome can be activated to receive the user with a single touch of a button, immediately whirring and morphing into the appropriate position - there's that sci-fi giddiness to be found here for sure. A hidden, removable compartment serves as the place of honor for either your PC rig or console. No word on pricing or availability were available at time of writing, but expect the Cooler Master ORB X to cost above four digits - perhaps even breaking the five digit mark. There is RGB illumination, after all.

I look at this case and the TV show "Mork & Mindy" comes to mind! Fully expect Robin Williams in costume to pop out and exclaim "NAA NU, NAA NU!"...

Dude, it's the 21st century, stop being sexist. The kitchen is my turf here and I helped design it and picked the appliances.

Add a cloaking field so I can't be located for inane tasks like taking out the garbage and you've just made a sale,....... :)

Edit:

And the cloaking field needs to be better then this:

I can't imagine anyone buying these contraptions except for the filthy rich. Besides, individuals could put something similar together for far less than 5 figures that is probably more comfortable... even with rgb lights...

How heavy is this thing?
I would wager a guess and say at least 250 lbs. for just the unit alone with most of the weight being at the base. The unit can support up to one 49" monitor or three 27" monitors, so the base would have to be heavy enough to keep it stable and not top-heavy. I don't think you want to put a desktop inside of that thing if you're doing any kind of overclocking or if heat may be an issue. A seat warmer is nice for the winter, but not a good idea if its your desktop.

That actually makes it kinda cool. Until I remember in battlefront two for Xbox, all Palpatine did was hover around and puke lightning (seriously, the emitter point was on his mouth)

That was really weird.

Personally, if I ever had the amounts of money needed to spend on a self-contained "pod" system like this, I'd rather spend on the Acer Thronos. It's less claustrophobic, and lends better to a sci-fi battlestation room setup if that's your thing.
