AMD's Latest Web-Store Drop Leaves Users in Anger Over a Broken Website

According to this Reddit thread, multiple AMD customers are reporting that the latest stock update on AMD's web store has left them without a desired product, and anger over the broken functionality. As AMD operates its own web-based storefront with all the latest CPUs and GPUs, users are constantly checking if the store has anything to offer in these times of processor scarcity, where it is impossible to purchase the latest generation of graphics cards or processors. AMD updated the website today with the newest batch of Ryzen processors and Radeon graphics cards, users have been reporting that the website functionality has been broken.

Multiple users tried to purchase their desired product, but the AMD website notified them that the queue is paused for about 30 minutes, and seemingly no one was able to purchase anything. People have been reporting that the Captcha used to verify that you are not a robot has failed as well, and adding the product to the cart was impossible, as seen in the image below. As there are multiple such comments posted in the thread, it leads us to write a report on it, wondering what is going on with AMD's storefront operations and what AMD is doing about it. With multiple users trying to purchase an AMD product, they were left with their hands empty, to wonder what is going on.

Because they haven't been competing with a corporation named Intel who literally paid BILLIONS each quarter to Dell alone to not use AMD products.

Did you get abducted and killed? Must be your fault for minding your own business in your own well locked up house.

This is the most French post I have ever seen in my life. lol

That's what happens when your government runs a deficit for 40 years and hasn't seen a net gain since Grandma was a kid.

Don't worry though, rest of the world is going down this same path now.

Most of the french economic rules come from the European Union.
I'm not sure why you are talking about the government, Rueducommerce = Carrefour which is an international company :D

EDIT : It appears it is no more owned by Carrefour but by Shopinvest since 2020.

So yeah, sure, lots of this stuff is made by local companies, but not even sold here and almost none of them have webshops of their own.
In fact, unless they get local orders for a product, they won't even offer that product for sale, which is a bit of a catch 22...

AMD's store is operated by Digital River, which is a spectacularly incompetent company and always has been. UK users haven't even been able to buy AMD reference cards since the end of last year, since Digital River refuse to update their systems to account for the new regulations brought about by Brexit. Meanwhile, just about every other retailer on the planet managed the switchover seamlessly.

Digital River really is a terrible logistics company, very outdated compared to their competitors. I had to deal with them one time about 3 years ago and it was worst experience I ever had with a retailer

The people complaining are trying to cheat the queue system with multiple browser windows, incognito modes, sandboxes, ect. You CAN use multiple computers in your home to get different queue IDs, but you can't use cheesy tricks. That worked the first week in the queue and they fixed that. You can view the discussion every week on falcodrin's youtube channel as they are always trying different techniques to get multiple queue IDs.

That said, unless you get a <15 minute queue time, you aren't getting anything, so it's still near impossible to get a card. I'm buying my first NEW Nvidia card this weekend in well over a decade because I'm tired of waiting and someone snagged one for me at MSRP.

I hope there is a class action lawsuit to cook those who profited on this graphics card hoarding situation, be it large scale miners, scalpers, AIBs, vendors, ect.

Echoing that DigitalRiver is a steaming pile of crap. I tried for several weeks a couple of months ago to get either a 6800XT or 6900 through the storefront using some of the tricks found in stock tracking Discord servers like Falcondrin, but unless you caught the products on the hour within a minute of posting, you were never going to get a card. I've seen the stock go so fast that I'm convinced the store is opened to scalpers a couple minutes before being official for everyone else.

If you're looking for a good price I wouldn't use AMD's site. I think they're there if you can't find something in stock anywhere else. The 5800X is $449 on their site here in the US, but it's $393 on Amazon (through Amazon, not a third party). On Amazon, the 5950X is $750 ($800 on AMD), the 5900X is $500 ($550 on AMD) and the 5600X is $273 ($300 on AMD). Since we're talking about prices, if anyone has a Micro Center near them, the 5800X is only $350 and the 3700X is only $220. o_O On the Intel side, the 10850k and 11700K are both just $300.

Oh yeah I had my share of fun with Digital River when I bought a Titan, wanted to return it, they never got back to me, Paypal ruled in my favor and gave me the money back

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I've bought direct from Microsoft, AMD, and Nvidia before, but only because desperate times call for desperate measures.

There is no reason to be using the AMD store right now. Most of Europe's retailers have decent stocks of CPUs and reasonable quantities of 6600XT

If you want 6700/6800/6900 then good luck but getting it from the AMD store is no more or less horrible than trying to get it from anywhere else. There simply aren't enough cards at reasonable price to go around, so pay the scalper price or shut up.

So have I, they changed about a month ago and it all went to shit. They added a queue system and now only bots get cards.

Getting anything that's not "mainstream" just doesn't happen.
CoolPC has some stuff that's a bit more unusual and there's one or two more places like that, but you still miss out on things that are much more widely available in Europe and the US. Their website is also impossible to use.
A lot of brands simply don't sell their products here as well.
Sure, there are little things you can get here that might be a lot harder to walk into a shop in Europe or the US and get there and then, but it's mostly cables/adapters and such things.

Amazing enough i thought this way too, im glad they broke the sites intentionally to keep bots from being thieves

since AMD.com have switched to this queue system, it has being a big disaster.
Keep even playing field for all users derp.

For obvious reasons!

Try living in a not country that no-one really cares about. AMD doesn't even list a single local reseller on their website, because, the PRC. At least you got a local "partner" listed.
So yeah, sure, lots of this stuff is made by local companies, but not even sold here and almost none of them have webshops of their own.
In fact, unless they get local orders for a product, they won't even offer that product for sale, which is a bit of a catch 22...

Life. Don't talk to me about life.

Marvin: “Ghastly, isn’t it?”
