RX580 VBIOS - nothing seems to be working

I am fully aware this topic has been covered A LOT, but so far everything has failed so I'm hoping someone can give me something else to try.

So:

I bought a second-hand Asus Dual RX580 8GB - I knew it had been previously used for mining and planned to do the same.

It had already had a modded BIOS and was working ok, but with slightly low hashrate and the power seemed high so I wanted to flash it back to stock and then re-flash with my own modded bios.

Found the correct stock BIOS from techpowerup database, uploaded it to HiveOS and tried the flash - It failed... Hive would then see the card but it refuses to hash or do anything.

So on to trying to un-brick. So far I have had zero luck with all of the methods I know or with any I have found online. So far I have:

1. Tried basic b*tch amdvbwinflash - get the following:

2. Tried admin cmd amdvbflash: - get the following:

So I tried the usual, -unlockrom, -f, -pa etc... same result

Ok, so DDU in safemode and tried 1+2 again - same result

Device manager disable, reboot, enable, repeat - same result

3. Tried moving the card around onto x16 slot, x8 slot and x1 riser board - still nothing

4. Tried to run atiflash through Ubuntu - Slightly different, this time it gives the "ROM not erased - ERROR: 0FL01"

5. Tried to run from freeDOS - Same as Ubuntu

6. Tried 1-8 pin method
-i with pins jumped gives failed test as expected - remove jump -i gives passed - try to flash... same result

I feel like as I can see the card in amdvbflash and it shows up in device manager (although it incorrectly identifies as RX590 series) there must be a way to get the stock bios onto it and recover this, but I have run out of things I know about to try.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Also - some extra screen grabs and photos for info:

atikmdag-patcher version 1.4.9 this is what i used in February for a RX 570 SH, after a lot of tries it fixed, I could OC high.

I used drivers from November 2020 or December 2020 then I updated from in-app updater to latest version and worked.

Did you installed drivers like this: DDU in Safe Mode: rebooted , installed AMD Drivers for your GPU , and flashed with stock BIOS using atikmdag-patcher.exe with and without rebooting PC after installing GPU drivers (if other method not working) ?

Worked for me.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. I have the same issue with a Nitro + Rx470 4Gb, Elpida. Get confirmation of unlocking, the same error as you, 2nd hand GPU as well.. Tried everything as well..

Forgot to mention this one in my op.

I have already been using the pixel patcher too. I will find some time today and step it through the DDU, driver, patcher process slowly again just to give it another try.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Have you tried running atiflash from freeDOS? From your screenshots you're using the latest amdvbflash which no longer supports the force flash -f command.

I would try loading an older DOS version and using Rufus to create a freeDOS bootable USB and trying the -f command from there. Generally because freeDOS doesn't need to load the drivers it will flash a lot of cards that otherwise fail.

If that fails try googling the 1-8 pin method. It basically involves bypassing the bios chip while windows boots, again it usually has a pretty decent chance of working.

I think one of these methods would likely work in your case as amdvbflash is still seeing a viable BIOS on the card.

Do a help command on amdvbflash.exe if youvwere in windows it would be -? Or /? For a list of commands.

Spare us the long messages please
