1440p, i just upload to YT at 1080p for speed. I will try to OC my RAM and see if it makes a difference. I was contemplating to downgrade to a 1080p monitor. But i still prefer a big 32" at 1440p and a slower framerate, than a smaller 24-27" 1080p monitor with 60+ fps. Thanks again.

Are you running the game uncapped? Also, check your GPU power usage in GPUZ. Your 6600 XT's power usage is abnormally low (80+w compared with 200+w on the 2080) You might have inadvertently lowered the power limit? Can't think of anything else.

Do excuse the poor image quality, my phone really doesn't have the greatest of cameras :shadedshu: Either way, here's my Asus RX 6600 XT Dual OC, got it for 390€ before taxes and shipping, which is a deal I'm pretty happy with considering the current market situation :D

Why would i cap my framerate or power target and complain :) Fresh driver install after DDU from Safe Mode, no performance tuning. I posted in the official game's forum too. Maybe someone there can tell if it is a game or driver issue. Thanks.

Hi guys, my 6800xt red devil won’t post at gen 4 x16, only gen 3 x16 on my msi b550 unify x board. I tried differentt bioses on the motherboard but that didn’t solve the issue. I want to try another 6800xt bios on my gpu but I don’t know which bioses are compatible with my red devil.

Make sure you're using PCI_E1, the slot closest to the CPU. The other slot that connects to the chipset is limited to PCIe Gen3. Nice board, by the way.

Thanks for suggestion but I already use the E1 slot and I don’t have any m.2 ssd either, only 1 sata ssd and 1 sata hdd is connected. I just tried disabling all integrated devices, onboard audio, bluetooth, wifi, network adapter, disabled c states, and also disconnected all my case header connectors, disconnected all usb devices but still booted with Pcie gen 3 x16. I love the board and thats why I am willing to try another bios on my gpu, maybe a newer dated bios then my red devils will solve this issue.

A simple sanity check: are you using any riser cable/vertical gpu mount of any kind?

No, the gpu connected directly to the motherboard. CPU is 5900X and have 2x16 40000/C16 kit. I tried Cmos reset and bios defaults without any kind of PBO or FCLK overclock but same result.

I sincerely doubt a GPU BIOS update will change anything. Most likely there's a signal integrity issue with either your GPU or motherboard. Without another 4.0 GPU to test with it's very difficult to know for sure, but that would be my guess.

Firstly, I would not try writing another GPU bios currently, that might end in pain, well, except if its released by the GPU manufacturer specific for that model.
Secondly, I would suspect the motherboard bios, but as others have said, the best way to check what is going on is either try another PCIe 4 capable card on your MB, or try your 6800XT on another board that supports PCIe 4.
This is the first time I hear something like this, I certainly hope you where not unlucky with a bad 6800XT, those things are so illusive it would be a shame :fear:

I thought by now it would be common to flash bioses to 6000 series and I would be safe since Red Devil has a bios switch, if something goes wrong I could always switch to other bios and save the card. I live in Turkey and I bought the motherboard and gpu when I was in US so rma process will be hard for me to do and nobody I know here has switched to gen 4 capable motherboard yet. Thats why I thought if it works, the bios flashing would be the easiest solution for me.

Actually I replaced the factory paste of the gpu, maybe I touched the PCIE connection part and leave some paste. I will remove and clean the PCIE connector of the gpu when I get home.

You repasted a brand new GPU? Why? It seems like you have some bad habits you need to unlearn:
- unless your thermals are bad and there is indication of a problem, repasting is unnecessary for the first few years of a GPU's life. The couple of degrees difference better paste might make is Irrelevant to performance.
- a BIOS update is NOT a likely fix for whatever random problem one might have with a GPU. It might be, but that requires someone to actually identify that there is a bug in that BIOS. If not, you're just risking breaking something for no good reason.

Your reasoning here is "I have a weird problem - > a BIOS update will probably fix it", which is a huge leap. A GPU BIOS update is a last resort, not an early troubleshooting fix. Chances are equally large that you'll brick the card - just look at all the threads on these forums asking for help due to doing just that.

I repasted it because I had a huge difference between gpu temperature and junction temperature, it was like mac gpu temperature 75 and junction was like 100-113, the card was hitting max junction temperature with that huge cooler. After repasting with Noctua NH-1 my new temps were gpu 80, junction 90-100.

so still not a way to cross flash this cards without bricking them? I would like to try a compatible msi 6800xt bios to see what would happen if the board and gpu has the same msi branded bioses.

An update to my situation; I got a chance to try my 6800xt on another motherboard which is a Asus x570 and even without installing drivers the gpu worked at gen 4 x16 without a problem. I think my motherboard is faulty.

Hello again!

I read on Guru3D forums that the new driver 21.9.1 Radeon Software has metrics for CPU temps also for overlay.
I suppose this option is only available for systems that has Ryzen CPU because i can't see the metrics on my Radeon overlay?
I tried this on Win11 and Win10.

Other question is about Windows Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS). On Win 10 GPU-Z says that it's not on and not supported.
On latest Dev build of Win11 GPU-Z tells me that its not on but supported. Although i can't see option for that in the Windows graphics options were it should be putted on?
Is here someone who can use HAGS and/or give me advice that is it possible to turn on somehow?

Thank you in advance!

Good that you were able to find the root cause. :D
Like @Felix123BU, I was also thinking that this does not sound like 6800XT problem.

Either the motherboard or the PCI-e connector could be an issue. :(
Sometimes it is just some weird bios issue from mainboard that could be gone if you clear the CMOS.
I had a weird issue myself last weekend when I put together new computer for my son.
On ASUS Crosshair VIII hero mainboard, the CPU fan connector was not detecting the DDC pump and the pump would run at full speed.
I thought it was problem with DDC pump RPM control cable as it was not being detected on any fan port on the mainboard. I took appart the cable plug and pump to check if there is issue with the cable or connection on DDC pcb.
This did not help.
I thought pump RPM circuit was broken and as last resort, I thought let's clear the mainboard bios maybe issue lies there.
To my surprise it was some bios weird issue, after I cleared the CMOS the DDC pump was detected and I could control the speed with AI Suite.

I did not spend much time on my computer in the last days since I came back from trip to India.
I need to check if I can see CPU on matric for my 5900X with new driver.
What I did notice when I put together all new AMD machine (5800x and 6800XT) for my son is that on Wattman page with 21.9.1 there was a new field to overclock the Ryzen process through Wattman.
It used to have only GPU Ocing there.

Indeed, the Bios of today tends to be the root problem for a lot of weird issues, including some software not running or running weirdly, they have become more complex and with extra complexity comes extra potential issues. One of the first things I check if things do not behave as they should. Back in the day, one could run with the initial bios for years, nowadays bios updates are in many cases mandatory.

Yes, especially with Ryzen machines the bios is in contant development by AMD like Radeon Software updates.
They are still releasing Agesa updates.
I have latest bios on both machines.

Any of you 6000 series owners plan on upgrading to Alder Lake CPU's when they come out? I would be very curios how the 6000 series behaves with the upcoming CPUs from Intel :D

No Adler Lake for me.
If anything, I will upgrade my 5900X with Zen 3 3D V-Cache processor that AMD plans to release this year or start of next year. :D

Is it me, or dose the image quality out of the box is better on AMD than on Nvidia ? both in games and in a desktop envoirement. Last time i had an AMD card was in 2014. Since then i only had Nvidia, and after a month or so of using the 6600 XT i switched back to the 1070 Ti to do some tests. And the colors and sharpness are less vibrant and blurrier. I used the same monitor. Is it placebo or ?

And the second thing. I played around with integer scaling. On a 1440p monitor i have to drop down to 720p to make it work but the image quality is poor. And then i tried 1080p + integer on a 4K TV. It looks really good, i am contemplating getting a 4K TV myself and use it as monitor. The only problem is the 60Hz refresh rate. But the bigger size, image sharpness and higher framerate than 1440p make it an interesting option for RTS and RPG type games, maybe even for sims like DCS World or Dirt 2.0
Do you guys have any experience with integer scaling and 4K resolution ?
