What's the price without VAT?
27% VAT in my country + whatever else the retailers put on the price as extra profit.
US prices basically mean nothing here in general.

With no VAT its around 322 $ but its kinda moot point since I/most ppl can't buy stuff with no VAT anyway.

Cheaper till you put the cost of a Z690 Mobo and DDR5 then that price performance goes out the window.....
Does Intel want the Z690 to be the "new-X platform"? Is this their new successor to the X299/X399?

You've got to be joking. Heathcare comes to mind. Looks to me like the US is paying for the rest of the planet. Ask your government to lower your VAT.
Well, maybe ask YOUR government to stop spending more money on military budget every year than China, Russia and EU combined, and invest that into healthcare and education.

A discount at a single retailer for a single CPU variant is not "price cuts".

I feel a price cut is inevitable for AMD at this point. And considering Zen3 is already a year old, I think it is about time AMD start adjusting prices in preparation of whatever they are going to announce in Q1 2022. The only problem I think may limit the price drop is the cost of producing these chips now. With TSMC increasing prices a few times, I don't think the cost of manufacturing is going to help. AMD may even divert some of these Zen 3 chips to their more lucrative EPYC line for maximum profit since Intel still have no answer to AMD for these enterprise/ data center chips.

I expect top end TR or even the 5950x to be just as profitable. EPYC at the top end also needs extra validation & binning for higher efficiency. In short I fully expect prices to go down, how much ~ well depends on yields with zen3d as well as how they'll price it! If they price top end (zen3d) higher than the current R9 chips I expect the regular zen3 to go down more, but we'll see how that obviously plays out.

Your comment makes no sense.
Sorry some people here in the U.S. like to pretend that the rest of the world gets cheaper healthcare because U.S. citizens pay ludicrous prices for everything medical related. The truth is, the U.S. government does little to nothing to prevent the absurd profiteering by our medical, pharmaceutical and health insurance industries. That is why we pay ridiculous prices for everything medical related. We depend on competition to control the market, which doesn't work when you factor in insane greed and a lack of morality or empathy!

R9 is the predecessor to RX.
I was talking about Ryzen 9 chips, R9 in short :toast:

Basically AMD probably has enough wiggle room to (massively) cut price on existing zen3 based chips, even after TSMC's hike, but that might come at a cost of zen3d priced higher across the stack.

I don't understand this - this isn't news. Micro Center was selling 5800x for around $320 for a good long while, and before that they were around $350 and before that they were at MSRP. Out of all the AMD CPUs, the 5800x has always been in stock (when I checked and I'm on MC website checking stock levels at least once a week) when compared to the 5600x/5900x/5950x. Just in the past 6 months or so when the 5600x became a normal staple at MC the price was dropped $20 on those and even the 5900x and 5950x saw price drops.

The 5800x was either the most overly manufactured CPU from AMD or the least popular one to buy because they were always in stock at Micro Center.

Get a 5600x - it matches single core performance of a 5800x. It provides a similar performance for gaming as a 5800x. Draws around 50W less for multithreading than a 5800x. The 5600x runs much cooler than a 5800x.

Or

Get a 5900x - it walks over the 5800x in multithreaded performance. Has similar performance for gaming as the 5800x. Has similar performance in single core, draws just a little higher (maybe up to 20W) power for multithreaded tasks, but it runs cooler than a 5800x.

Just those reasons alone, when compared to the 5600x or 5900x, the 5800x is kind of pointless. It's like the uncle that no one wants to be around at the family reunion. We all know he exists, but no one wants anything to do with him.

The 5800x is kind of like the RTX 3060. Sure, it's functional, but it's not really an ideal part when you compare it to other options.

I think this a bad news story, not just for TPU, but for all places posting this. It is just someone noticing a price change and then running with it, without any kind of confirmation from an actual source that it's true for the reason(s) the story was posted.

It's basically (one of) the easiest with just one i/o die & one CCD.

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
$70 more expensive mainboard, crazy expensive RAM, not so great performance with funny power consumption, yeah, sure thing, AMD is "scared".\
Perhaps that's why 5600x got more expensive, after Adler Lake reviews went out:

You've got to be joking. Heathcare comes to mind. Looks to me like the US is paying for the rest of the planet. Ask your government to lower your VAT.
Your healthcare costs to much, since:
1) Your education is batshit scary expensive
2) Your judiciary allows suing around for crazy stuff
3) This leads to medics being rather expensive AND on top of it, needing an army of lawyers/money buffer to absorb damage inevitably coming from litigation

Embarrassing part is that even though it is the most expensive healthcare in the world that barely covers needs of about half of the population, it isn't even in top 10 on quality.

To me this seems like microcenter being microcenter. The 5800x's has consistently dropping because it has been selling poorly afaik because of price/performance relative to the 5600x/5900x, didn't offer enough over the 5600x and priced too closely to the 5900x, adding on top that it has some issues being a single 8-core ccx that make it even more undesirable.

Although all the articles quoting this micro center discount are bullshit, discount on ryzen are due to start coming. The current line up has been on sale for a year and was just dethroned from the performance and from the value podium (not from efficiency but let's ignore that :D)

They might hold off the discounts until we get closer to black friday but I'd guess those lower prices will stay for a while after black friday, at least until zen3 3d cache releases.

Im a buyer from a smal online shop here and i have the numbers from them, for each gen for AMD:
Ryzen 1xxx = 1289
Ryzen 2xxx = 1467
Ryzen 3xxx = 961
Ryzen 5xxx = 249

Old thing but APU and CPU for FM2+ overall 5457, AMD goes down and down

I can get a b550 mortar for BRL899 and 5800x for BRL 2769 = 3688

Meanwhile, 12700kf is BRL3349 and the cheapest z690 we have here is msi a-pro for BRL 2099 = 5458

good 32gb ddr4 = 1199,90
Only 32gb ddr5 available = 3299,90

that’s a BRL4000 = U$ 600 difference for a small gain. There’s no way you can buy 12 gen intel in Brazil. If amd lowers 5800x msrp, then the price gap will be higher as well…

You mean early signs of the rest of the world subsiding lower pricing for the US market - again.
I'll trade you prescription drug prices for tech prices

I know, I know 20 years ago it was 1980. 2000 was just a few years ago.

Erm you got it a little confused, that is the GST which I remember it well as alot of Gas/petrol station closed as soon as that came in, thanks John Howard!!!!! but this never applied to goods from over seas, if you bought directly from USA lets say it never got/Had any GST on it at all, not until only a few yrs ago.

Does Intel want the Z690 to be the "new-X platform"? Is this their new successor to the X299/X399?
I dont think so but who knows, the X299/399 died along time ago when Threadripper got good and well the 3950/5950X made there X platform look retarded
