Hi friends

A few days ago I broke my gpu when i changed my cpu into another case, I hit the part of the plate and I'm afraid it just dropped off a chip or something.

I am lookng for someone who has the same card and share a photo of the same place to compare it with mine. I have not found a good photo on the internet !!

My card is the Asus gtx 1070 Dual 8gb. There is a picture in the link that shows exactly the demage

Thanks

Hi friends....
Hope you get it sorted... not a good time to damage cards as replacements cost an arm and a leg.

As suggested, hope the soldering DIY works out. Doesn't look damaged, just displaced. Then again i don't even know what that chip/component is... i'm just rolling with the boys above.

I've dislodged a similar thing in the past when i had an ati x1650XT or something like that, i just super glued it back into place and as far as i know that old gpu is still still working to this day.

I don't recommend trying to superglue things but if you can solder it back into place then give it a go :)

It looks like that component is still making contact even tho its been dislodged so you might be able to get away with using some hot snot glue gun stuff, lets just hope the copper tracers have not ripped up from the PCB :)

Thanks Mr. Scott,

Definitely this picture is much better resolution than others that I've found... Thank you!
I may be able to solder it again and try but now im wondering if there is some component missing right under the "displaced" thing (viewing my picture) ... In your image I can't see well if theres something more or not.

I really thank your fast response.

I agree it does not look broken and looks like it needs soldering back into place.

Also a great link i love Dave jones from the EEVBlog channel, he has loads of good videos on so many different subjects :D
ill try to solder it again maybe it works! I really hope it does because i did not contemplate to buy a new one

You're right, it was a very bad timing :ohwell: I had done many changes without demaging my pc until now and it's a pain in the ss

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, my card is not booting and I noticed this exact same component is missing.
Do you have any references for this capacitor (?) ?

I tried to bring the card to different micro soldering service but they want to know what's the component missing.

Thank you!

find another Tech they want you to do there job for them, slackers comes to mind' it looks like a capacitor shouldnt be too hard to find the value bud.
