In this article, we test 50 games on NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and compare the FPS results with those of AMD's Radeon RX 6800 to determine which card offers the best performance. About as close of a match as you can get. AMD does a great job using infinity cache to make up the bandwidth deficit while Nvidia does an impressive job with memory management as having 8 GB didn't seem like a hindarance, even in 2021.

Interesting to see all the game engines listed, it made me realize there is another game using Decima engine (Horizon: Zero Dawn) and another one using CryEngine (Deliverance: Kingdom Come). Too bad they're not included to skew UE4 dominance a little.

Impressively done W1zzard and everything I love about TechPowerUp reviews, especially including at least some non-AAA games like Divinity Original Sin 2 and older favourites like Prey.

Only problem is, "out of stock vs out of stock" (for any sane price) comparisons don't exactly excite me as they used to...

I have a 6700XT as much as I wanted to get a 6800 the price jump was just too high too justify despite me being able to afford it. Not too mention when I was buying I could actually get a 6700XT, I may still be waiting for a 6800 in stock and still priced badly…

This was a great review and like how it was broken down into sections.

Glad I picked up the 6800XT recently I also just bought a Ultra wide LG 34GP83A-B. So finally moving off my two 24inch display to something a little more modern with Freesync Premium support. Couldn't say no to the cyber monday deals on amazon it should be here next week.

6800 is vaporware, could be 2x as fast and it wouldn't matter. I'd still buy a regular 3080 over a 3070 Ti any day of the week.

You can do anything you actually want to do with AMD. Thank god the horrible driver situation of the 5700 XT is non-existent this time. And you get 16GB of VRAM instead of 8GB (which I wouldn't downplay, there was so much effort to convince people 8GB wasn't needed and yet everyone I know now is stuck with 3, 4, and 6GB video cards that don't work well, GTX 1070 8GB people are the happiest people in this current GPU shortage situation) for no extra cost. I was able to buy an Asus Tuf 6800 16GB for my brother and it is my favorite of the current generation. I sold my 3080, it was a furnace, and planned to switch to the 6800 but sadly wasn't able to buy one. I'd love to get any current AMD card near MSRP right now.

Assuming both are available and priced the same, I would pick the RX 6800. I used a 3070 Ti before, and I feel the GDDR6X is the most meaningless upgrade, and worst of all, the increased in power consumption over the non Ti version of the 3070 is unjustified. Nvidia chose not to release a 16GB version, but instead slap some hot VRAMs that I feel is a mismatch for a card at this level. Ray tracing at this level is nice, but the performance hit may be too significant for fast pace games, even with the help of DLSS.

In reality, the RX 6800 is non-existent. The only RX 6800 you can get is a screenshot or photo of it. The RTX 3070 Ti may be available, but woefully overpriced when the RTX 3080 is superior in every sense and not that far away in pricing.

I imagine you are referring to the 8 GB RX 580 vs 4GB RX470/480 vs 3/6 GB GTX 1060. There are not a lot of examples where the GTX 6 GB lags behind the RX 580 strictly due to vram and not drivers/gpu performance.

8 GB will be fine for future games as they will have to be played at 1080p ultra or 1440p high negating higher vram requirements.

I’m currently using a RTX 3070Ti and in games I’m playing I see close to 8GB vram usage and sometimes even higher but I’m also playing at 4K120

Overall it's a tie between RX6800 vs 3070Ti; 6800 wins in efficiency, 3070 Ti wins in features (namely DLSS). 16GB VRAM still doesn't matter much in 2021, but DLSS has definitely taken a foothold in 2021.
