Optimization is also added for "Icarus" and Blender 3.0 on RX 6000 series graphics cards. Among the fixes include a SteamVR Home noticed on the Radeon VII; driver time-outs noticed with the RX 5500 XT in "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy;" Radeon Software becoming unresponsive with PUBG on multi-display mode with extended display; and artifacting noticed in "Forza Horizon 5" with the car models on cards such as the RX 500 series.

Fiji was released in 2015, so the worst case scenario is 6 years.
Tahiti was released on in Feb 2011, that makes it more than a decade of driver support.

Kepler fair a little bit better, the $3000 Titan Z was released in 2014 and driver support ended earlier this year.
This makes it live a year more than the Fury.
That is not counting OEM and crap like the GT720 in 2017 and GT1030 Kepler variant released in 2018.

Looks like AMD finally fixed the deal-breaker issue.

ummmm, 1060 is pascal, so of course you did.

You do realize kepler was the 600/700 series, correct?

Actually, worst case would be 5 years, HD 6000 series was October 2010 to november 2015.

I doubt AMD will drop polaris anytime soon, despite the lower end cards being pathetic by todays standards the 480 alone has more users then all the GPUs AMD dropped earlier this year combined on steam. I'm going to guess that polaris, vega, and VII (all the non rDNA cards) will be dropped maybe a year after rDNA 3's release.

I totally forgot Terascale 3, had a HD5870 at the time so I skipped that gen.
The last WHQL Catalyst driver was in 2015 yes, but it did get a Beta version of the Crimson drivers in Jan 2016.

True, there is about 1-2 years in it depending if you go by the 290 or 390, my main issue is that they blocked you from upgrading the software all together now. AMD did not used to do this but now you cannot even try.

Damn i rememebered the Leschat custom drivers but they stopped in 2016.

It's always sad when hardware gets abandoned, but at least they still work with the old drivers

If you want to get maximum supported lifetime out of your GPU and use it mainly for non-Windows gaming, then just use Linux. AMD GPUs on Linux seem to have 2 decades of official support (no, I'm not joking, they just recently semi-retired R100/R200 (Radeon 7500/8500 series from 2001) - look here) which should be more than enough :)

That's a genuine suggestion these days tbh, with all the work valve has done with proton
