While it has almost the same shape and size as the wired R.A.T. 8+ ADV, the wireless R.A.T. DWS promises up to 200 hours of battery life, top-tier tracking thanks to PixArt's PAW3335 sensor, and particularly low-latency main button switches, along with several customization options.

More of the same from Mad Catz, they really have one design, and they aint trying to change that , i have been around MadCatz 20+ years , and this looks like a 10 year old version of the same shite mice they have always had. Moving on.

SO basically, what you are sayin is the same this that I've been sayin about so-called "NEW" cases for like 3 years now...

same-ole-same-same-lame-lame-no-design-effort-whatsoever..... hehehehe

Not sure I bite the "battery" argument. Rechargeable battery mice "live" like many other Li-Ion devices two to three years and then the battery cannot hold charge anymore. I actually prefer battery driven devices as they are in service much longer in my own little household. M705/ Triathlon/G602 from Logitech have been on my pad for years now. With current prices of materials price doesn't seem that outrageous to me. Original price of G602 was about what $80? and that was seven years ago.

I've had a lot of rat's over the years and the only one I really liked was the M.M.O.7 the 5 action directional button was genius it was the first mmo mouse that was easy to learn and use. I used it from launch till it broke last year now I have a rat 8 adv and it's uncomfortable same as every rat they really need to fix that for People who play with 2 fingers so they don't have a plastic point sticking into there 3rd finger. And they seem to have moved button five forward making it difficult to press even when fully adjusted back.

I'm using a R.A.T. 6 right now, started with R.A.T. 3 many years ago and am yet to find a more comfortable mouse. I don't get the whole obsession with super light mice these days, my guess is that marketing drones want to convince everyone they just need to buy this fashionable thing to be masters of shooters or something. Because, you know, everyone is a master, they just need to spend more on corporate products. Or young people became weaker than actual rodents.
Nice review, although the argument about batteries is just crazy talk. Get a pack of NIMH rechargeables and you have an infinite power source without ever having to plug a cable. I do agree with the fact that side buttons are annoyingly placed, for me the low-DPI button is way too far to the front, I would strongly prefer it to be where the screw is. I like to have it, but the placement makes me use it very rarely. The price is also somewhat too high, I'm going to wait for a sale.

Had the rat 5 for a while (actually might still be laying around somewhere) that was a pretty good mouse. Up until the left click started to triple click on its own. Didn't last much longer than a year or so
