Master System 2: Alex Kidd Miracle World built it. This was the first console my parents bought me possibly back in 1989/90
Sega Mega Drive: Mortal Kombat & Sonic 2: Second console owned 1992.
PlayStation: Tekken 2, Command & Conquer & Tenchu Stealth Assassins. I purchased this console myself back in 96/97.

These are the ones that give me the most nostalgia as they will always be in my memory books as a youngster in no particular order.
I also purchased a PS2 around 2000 but things quickly changed around that time as my PC love was coming in : )

Before PS4 I only had Atari 65XE which technically was a Personal Computer. The only console I owned was a PS4 slim which I purchased back in 2018 or so (so I could play Persona 5 and RDR2).

Out of the previous console generations I'd pick PS2 despite the fact that I never owned one. I played multiple titles from it either using emulator or PC ports.

I still plan to setup a MiSTer box to play SNES, NES and other consoles but that would cost something around €400 to setup.

First console I played was an Atari 5200. We owned a NES as it was my sisters Christmas gift back then. We skipped the SNES and I ended up getting a PS1 for Christmas and saved up and bought a Saturn. Then N64 and then Dreamcast, then Gamecube, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox360, etc etc etc. I now realize I am actually from rather a family with money when my dad was extremely frugal for most part. I was spoiled. BUT, I did start to work rather early and would save up for the consoles.

Anyway, the console I enjoyed the most was PS1 and Dreamcast honestly. SNES I played a lot of and it was wonderful (A Link to the Past was one of my fav games next to Super Castlevania IV) but I think I ended up playing the other two consoles much more.

Favorite games on PS1 would be Silent Hill 1, Resident Evil 1+2, Ape Escape (I know), Final Fantasy 7, FF9, Legend of Dragoon and Armored Core.
Dreamcast: Power Stone (I played the hell out of it), Resident Evil Code Veronica, Starlancer, Jet Set Radio, Shenmue. Just learned that there was a Ring game for Dreamcast. Saw it at a shop here. Gonna buy it and give it a try.

But I will admit that: Xbox OG and N64 gets a special mention mostly because of: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Conkers Bad Fur Day for N64. Xbox gets special mention for Silent Hill 2 Restless Dreams (best version IMO), Morrowind, Fable, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Breakdown.

I've thoroughly enjoyed pretty much every console since NES I owned pretty much everything except a Wii U at some point.... I dont plan on grabbing an Xbox this generation but have a PS5 and Switch. SNES would probably be my favorite overall though by a hair over the PS1. I really have a soft spot for Sega Saturn and Dreamcast. I also really liked the PS2, Gamecube, Xbox generation I felt like new awesome games were always just around the corner. Xbox 360/PS3 went on way too long and Performance was generally garbage but I still enjoyed both very much. Xbox one is probably my least favorite console thank god Microsoft switched to releasing all it's games on Pc....

It becomes really hard to decide when you really break it down to all the consoles you once had and all the games you played.

I cant name all the games I played. When blockbuster opened near my house I used to rent a new game every weekend. When I would visit my uncle who had a SNES, I would rent whatever I could at the local rental store (town didnt have a blockbuster, too small for it). SNES had such wonderful games too.

What I can guarantee in saying, as the generations get newer past PS2, I think I enjoyed gaming less and less. It will be interesting to see when this question is asked a decade from now.

Nice, I remember renting a few but most I would buy with whatever money I could get as a kid, spent endless hours of my life gaming and still to this day I am gaming. It's harder now, hands aren't what they used to be but my reflexes are still good. With my back and now my elbow fubar and this stupid virus which honestly hasn't affected me much except now I'm required to wear a mask in stores where that used to get you stopped by the cops.

Gaming is the best choice of hobby anyway, I recently beat Titanfall 2, Control, and am working on Biomutant, all of which I would recommend. First 2 were too short imo but very good games. Biomutant is an rpg in a futuristic world narrated by a british guy and is excellent so far. I probably couldn't list every game I've played there have been too many to count.

As I agree that today's BS in the world that would make gaming a better hobby as you sit more indoors, I just cant game much anymore. My daughters, whom I buy the games for, want me to play them and they like to watch. I just cant really do it like I could in the past. So I normally pick up old titles. Recently, been playing this Stardew valley game as its a lot of fun and rather simple game. But I am configuring my machine for mostly retro games. One console I barely touched but want to play more of titles from was the Turbographx 16. I couldn't afford one back then, but now I can but none exist. Maybe try also PC Engine 98 but that is mostly Hentai games. Which could be fun I suppose.

I got a turbografx in a trade but never had any games for it, they were super rare and it's the only console I had I never played. I have played bonk on an emulator and it's great for the time. A lot of my games came from trades with other kids, I have a laptop with over 100 old games and some emulators.

As a kid I was prescribed Zoloft and though I only took it for 2 weeks I got superhuman reflexes from it that still to this day I have insane reaction times, I once caught a lighter being thrown behind me without looking at it and passed it to the the intended target again without looking and continued to play guitar while the people there were like wtf he just do?

The official side effects list says:
Additional side effects for children can include: abnormal increase in muscle movement or agitation
But the real deal is I am wired like a maniac and have what I would call superhuman reflexes, I did not react at all when the doctor hit me with the knee hammer, he did it twice to make sure, no twitch reaction, I am in control. I had to sit there for like 80 tries per eye when they tried to do the little air puff test to test for glaucoma, I can blink my eyes faster than that little puff of air can reach my eye, they had to try 80 times PER EYE while I sit there blinking uber fast and giggling like a maniac half the time.

I mostly used to play a lot of Call of Duty because nobody could stop me, but after like a million plus kills it gets old so I mostly play single player games now. Sooo many killstreaks, when it was care packages I was calling in 3 at a time and used a smoke grenade and prone position to grab them all, my main competition was other people who took zoloft as a kid or camped prone and such because it's a great tactic.

Based on how many good memories I have, the xbox360 or the ps3 is my choice. I grew up playing unchardted, and minecraft on them with my brother. We also played all the lego games together and my personal favorite, TES.

Favorite games on PS1 would be Silent Hill 1, Resident Evil 1+2, Ape Escape (I know), Final Fantasy 7, FF9, Legend of Dragoon and Armored Core.
RE1 & 2, FF7 & 9 and especially Legend of Dragoon are still awesome. Though I've been playing FF8 more once again as it's not a bad one either.

Ff8 had good moments but the part at the end pisses me off. That your exploration is more or less limited to the platform where you fight Ultima weapon. Otherwise you can only do ultimicia's castle. I guess fighting Omega weapon is rather fun trial.

The love story was blah. I mean, yeah, Renoa was banging but really.

Yeah, going for disc 4 is practically a point of no return. At least on FF9 you still have quite a lot of towns still visitable on disc 4.

The last console that made the biggest impression on me was the PS1. That was the last console that I really invested a lot of time playing. Once I discovered PC gaming, consoles took a back seat.
