Today, we take a look at the Calypso Gaming Chair from AQIRYS, which is well-built with dense inner cushioning. Thanks to vintage colors and a futuristic look, it'll be a great addition to your gaming setup—if only pricing were a bit lower.

Nice, in-depth review. I can only imagine how tricky reviewing a chair is because of how subjective they are - everyone's ass is different, after all. Personally, I don't think I could buy a chair without at least sitting on it first, but I seem to be very picky in this regard. I found a fairly basic office chair years ago and, after a while, preferred to spend twice what I paid for it to have it re-upholstered rather than buy a new one - I've been to several stores and tried numerous chairs, from basic office ones all the way to ludicrously expensive ergonomic monstrosities. None of them were good enough to replace the one I was used to and it was not manufactured any more.
In the future I would appreciate some more attention given to the wheels since they not only affect the noise but also have the potential of damaging the floor in the long run, although I have to admit, I don't have any idea how to review them. Best ones I found are the roller blade style, soft with ball bearings. The rubber coated plastic ones gather particles and start behaving like sandpaper after a few weeks. Thankfully, it's a user replaceable part in most cases.

You give up a better ping and fps increase though.

Can't read much into this review in that if one wants to buy a chair, presumably, a 'gaming chair' is just an 'office chair' with an extreme logo or colour scheme. Therefore the question is first of all - what does $350 buy you from Ikea, or indeed $150, or $250, or whatever. Whereas a $100 mouse is better than a $20 mouse and a $300 CPU better than a $100 CPU it's not obvious that a $350 gaming chair is better than a $150 office chair unless one has some sort of reference point because they are not the same market....

We are thinking to buy some cheap chairs and do a comparison, to give you an idea what you buy with a branded chair.

I'm in the need of a new chair but I'm on the fence with these gaming chairs. My current chair is a full leather office chair I bought like 15 years ago and besides some of the sitching coming out the leather is intact with no peeling. All of these chairs don't look like they will last 5+ years.

I bought a "Humanscale Diffrient World One" a while back and haven't had any backpain-related issues since. At ~300 EUR in the EU at the moment, it is in my opinion affordable for what it is, and it did beat out any gaming chair I had tried before making the purchase. As it uses a mesh on both the seat and backrest with a self-adjusting mechanism, it is very comfortable while supporting my back well. That said, I don't like the "gaming look," but that is a matter of personal preference.

I don't mind the gaming look its the longevity of the chair that is my main concern. If i'm going to spend $300-$500 on it that chair better last me 10 years at least.

I had bought an Ergohuman, after 10 years of daily use it is still like new. The only reason I changed it was because I eventually got bored of it and wanted something new. Stupid I know. If you want a GOOD chair take a look at Ergohuman models. Notice though, quality might have changed after 10 years I got mine and prices are high.

alcantara, makes you feel like bucket seat, the rest is the same
