stupid to be marketing it that way.

i really just want an OLED tablet non-samung, i hate that it comes preloaded with facebook and all that other ****

You can move you pictures and movies, but apps will always install on the main storage. Which is almost 25% used up by the OS and Samsung's crap out-of-the-box :(
If it's such a hassle there's always unlocking bootloader & then custom ROM's available! Besides Android & bloatware is hardly a new combo, pretty much every manufacturer, including Apple in fact, can be accused of the same.

I wouldn't mind using Lineage OS rom, my issue is, I have never done it before and will probably suck at it. I tried it once and failed many many years ago... then even if I succeed I have to figure out how to load gapps so I can at least download netflix, how hard is that to do?

Not that heard especially given the tutorials available online, besides XDA forums already has an overactive community in this regard. But the advantages of going custom ROM have been diminishing over the years especially as a lot of major manufacturer switch to Google for lots of system apps, like phone or messages, which were previously their own custom versions. Basically it's like switching from Windows to Linux without the benefit of "manufacturer" support.

you mentioned Apple has bloatware now too, I never noticed this before, what kind and which company? and is uninstallable? cause the samsung facebook app on my old phone was not uninstallable and it annoyed me to no end.

i most likely will go with the pixel 6a phone someday when it comes out.

I meant your default Apple apps, technically some of them are unnecessary on certain devices & they shouldn't come preinstalled ~ that is bloatware IMO.

I'm not really selling you the Galaxy S22* or something, just that the Tab S8 series is probably the best tablets out there right now outside the Apple ecosystem.

I'd probably get that vanilla Tab S8 next year when they're reasonably priced, had a killer deal on the Tab S7+ recently at ~500 USD but opted out because of the size. Anything above 10-11 inches is generally uncomfortable especially if you're holding them in one hand, also the structural integrity is a concern for me wrt such large devices!

Its a good thing the smaller ones dont have it, like most Samsung devices to launch in Indian market I suspect Indian market models of these tablets will also be based on Exynos rather than Snapdragon.
Well the game changer ofcorse the new exynos will put things into business. Then people might opt for exynos then Snapdragon

You know fully well that, besides voiding your warranty, custom ROMs always come with their own problems. While I appreciate the option of installing a custom OS, I would like that to be just that: an option.
Also, yes, many manufacturers add bloatware, but stock Android is another story. I've always used that (or something very close to stock) and it ran just fine on mid-range hardware.

Samsung crap is pretty consistent across the lineup. Save for the S-Pen support.

that's a shame to hear, the s22 should lower its prices then considering zuckerberg must be throwing samsung a nice chunk of change to keep that crap on even high end phones. and if not, samsung is getting played like a chump. LOL

Except Google no one really employs Stock Android anymore, no one to the best of my knowledge. So if this is the issue you have with Samsung then I guess there's no real alternatives, for you?

Nokia does. And Motorola is still pretty close to stock.

726 g (Wi-Fi), 728 g (5G) (1.60 lb)

its not just the weight, its due to the giant size of it that pressure point will be directly on your wrist when holding it with one hand

It's a shame the phone world never got to wher ethe PC world is where OS installations are easy as pie. And try as I might, it's hard to find basic stock android options, most are heavily "customized" and look just as gaudy as the official ROM does.

All I want is base de googled android, is that so much to ask for?

I like the ipad mini size, it fits me perfect, if it was OLED I would be a happy camper, but its screen sucked imo so I said fk it

not sure I would buy the S8 that is a tft screen, yucky. OLED only for me, life is to short for anything else.
I also wish the tab S8 was OLED. LCD on a $700 tablet just feels wrong.

The ipad mini is an interesting tablet, I lvoe the form factor, I also love dmy nexus 7 tablets. But iOS is just infuriating, and after the experience with my work provided air 2 I'm never buying an ipad.

Whoever makes smartphones today, used to make dumb phones before. As such, instead of software, they're accustomed to firmware: fire and forget, update only if a catastrophic flaw is found. Buy a new device otherwise. As such, not only do they see software updates as something harmful to their sales, but refuse to provide drivers for their products. That lack of drivers is what makes modders' life an exercise in futility :(

It's not just use of LCD but also fact that they dropped HDR10+ support seen on previous Tab S7 while increasing price by $50 for base model.

The 14.6" is rougly the same same area as a 8.5"x11" sheet of paper. How big did you think it was?

Regarding the FB app, I have a S20 and it that app came preinstalled deleting it takes 2 sec

Got an S7 and still barely could I get used to it after more than a year(handling due to its size). Had had two 8.4 inch models afore. Now they release an even larger screen variant in the new series? It is just not as convenient to use, not a good middleground that much anymore. Come on Samy, some would just be content with an 8.4-9.4 inch model; don't you want to fill that markethole? If it is enough is enough. Please, think about those who are more moderate in the next lineup(and have shallower pockets too).

i mainly only use tablets to watch netflix or something at work in the background, so handling isn't a big deal to me, but is a nice second screen so to speak...

but yeah if i were handling it for regular usage, i'd want ipad mini size
